Rockets GM Daryl Morey received a 4-year extension on Thursday, according to Houston Fox 26 reporter Mark Berman. Morey, who had one year left on his contract, will be with the Rockets through 2017-18. “The reason I extended Daryl, I thought he’s done a terrific job in his tenure with the Rockets,” commented Rockets owner, Leslie Alexander, on Morey who has made some key moves in the past year highlighted by the acquisitions of Jeremy Lin and James Harden to fill the backcourt. Houston is currently holding on to 7th place in the Western Conference and should they make the playoffs, it will be their first appearance since 2009.

Jeremy Lin Loses A Game Of Table Tennis To Rockets GM, Daryl Morey

This was over, the moment Daryl Morey stepped into this match with a dri-fit shirt on. Fact, there is nobody in this world that would wear a dri-fit shirt at an event they are terrible at. Except for P.E. teachers, but those guys can basically wear whatever they want. I don’t think I have ever seen my P.E. teacher in anything that doesn’t make him look like he lives at the school...

Jeremy Lin Plays Ping Pong with Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey for Charity

Jeremy Lin may be the star on the basketball court in Houston, but in the table tennis arena he is not the big cheese. That title apparently belongs to Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey: Hey, it's for charity (the Jeremy Lin Foundation)...he is the boss...I don't know. I think if they go two out of three Jeremy Lin schools him.

Giraffe at Houston Zoo named after Yao Ming

Tweet Yao Ming changed the NBA by exponentially boosting the league’s international popularity and being arguably one of the most successful international players in the game. Yao played for the Houston Rockets for his entire brief career and the city hasn’t forgotten about that. That’s why a baby giraffe born at the Houston Zoo on [...]

I guess there is a giraffe named 'Baby Yao Ming'

I must say, this is a strange development. However, I am not one to argue with a good thing. Naming a baby giraffe 'Baby Yao Ming' sounds like the exact same thing that I would do if I ever gained a giraffe naming opportunity, so you know I'm not hating. It kind of makes me wonder if I've been naming things correctly, considering I have yet to name ANYTHING Baby...

Yao Ming enters Chinese politics; sits in at Beijing parliament session

Yao Ming, the towering ex-NBA star (of tallest player in the league during his final year, #1 draft pick, and 5-time All-Star fame) who made an immense impact during his time on the court with Houston Rockets, is proving himself as a force to be reckoned with off the court as well.Since his injury-driven retirement in July of 2011, "The Great Walking Wall" himself has done...

Houston Rockets: Darryl Morey For Executive of the Year (Again)

Earlier in the year at HoopStuff, an article was written that Houston Rockets’ GM, Darryl Morey should win the NBA’s Executive of the Year Award. This still holds true, but he has done so much more since then, that it really is no contest. After stealing Thomas Robinson from the Kings and making a brilliant waiver wire move to sign Aaron Brooks, he has all but sealed the deal...

Suns host first of two straight against Rockets

The Houston Rockets are looking to continue pulling away in the Western Conference playoff race, and having all four of their season meetings with the last-place Phoenix Suns remaining should certainly help. Chandler Parsons will try to keep the Rockets rolling Saturday night when they face the short-handed Suns for the first of back-to-back games. Houston (34-28) overcame one...

Rockets 94, Warriors 88

The high-scoring Houston Rockets relied on defense for a change to earn a victory that will look far better in the standings. Chandler Parsons scored 26 points, James Harden had 20 points and 11 assists and the Rockets overcame a horrendous shooting performance to beat the Golden State Warriors 94-88 on Friday night. ''We definitely had some positive steps in our defense...

Dallas gets revenge in win against Houston Rockets

Boy if there was anyone who needed a win, it certainly was the Dallas Mavericks. After they got hammered in the 3rd quarter in Sunday’s game against the Houston Rockets who went on to beat Dallas, the Mavericks got a bit of revenge in their 112-108 win at home. Of course it wasn’t by 30 plus points, but a win is a win no matter how you stroke it up, it’s still a win. Throughout...

Rockets GM Daryl Morey Schools Jeremy Lin in Table Tennis (Video)

This should go a long way in squashing the stereotypes that Asians rule in table tennis. At a fundraiser for the Jeremy Lin foundation back in the middle of February, Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin took on his boss Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey in a game of table tennis and apparently he got served, although he didn’t look to be taking game too seriously.

Tony Parker Tells Bill Simmons He Was Happy When James Harden Was Traded (Video)

The James Harden trade to the Houston Rockets stirred a mixture of feelings, but one NBA player was pretty happy when he was traded.  Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs. Parker told Bill Simmons during a Grantland interview that he was pretty “happy” when Harden was traded due to Harden being a tough player [...]The post Tony Parker Tells Bill Simmons He Was Happy When James...
