PLAYERS: Royce White
TEAMS: Houston Rockets
Royce White has enviable talent.  He was the type of player that should have gone even higher than his 16th overall selection in the NBA draft this past year.  However, his anxiety disorder held him back.  The Houston Rockets took a chance on him, and they tried to build a plan around his disorder, but so far it hasn't worked.  Now, White may walk away from the NBA altogether if he forced to choose between the game and what he knows is best for him.  But he still has options.ESPN's Colleen Dominguez interviewed White and talked to him about the disorder, the NBA, and his plans for the future.  White plans to meet with the team to discuss his future, but he has made the fact that his health is the most important thing to him very clear. I'm not PLANNING to quit, but if its between my HEALTH and BASKETBALL, health takes precedence. You should never choose ANYTHING over it.— Royce White (@Highway_30) November 16, 2012The Rockets have said they will fine White for each day he is not with the team and unexcused from practice.  However, they have also said they will continue to support him and help him with his condition. If White cannot handle the flying involved with playing in the NBA, the Harlem Globetrotters have offered a solution: Play for them.  The Globetrotters have reached out to White and wished him the best, but they also offered him a chance to play on a professional team that does not need to fly while playing in the U.S.  The Globetrotters travel by luxury bus throughout the United States.  White simply wouldn't be able to travel with them when they go overseas.Of course, most people would rather see White in the NBA.  White would surely rather play in the NBA.  Whether that happens or not is up to him and the Rockets. Royce White Hints He May Quit NBA, Says Health More Important Than Basketball

Plenty of people expected Royce White‘s anxiety struggles to complicate his time in the NBA. But few expected it to happen so quickly — or to such an extent. White and his employer, the Houston Rockets, have been at odds in recent days over what White says is the team not following through on promises about White’s anxiety issues. White was sent to the team’s D League affiliate...

The Royce White Experiment Is Inching Closer To Disaster

The Houston Rockets took a huge gamble selecting Royce White at No. 16 in June’s NBA Draft. White was a beast his one year at Iowa State (13.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5 assists) but his draft stock plummeted thanks to a well-documented anxiety disorder. A major crux of his situation: White has a tremendous fear of flying. Unfortunately for White, the NBA travel schedule is arguably...

The 16th pick in June's draft, White has been away over a disagreement over how the team has helped him confront his anxiety disorder. The Rockets have arranged for treatment at the Baylor College of Medicine...

It’s Friday, So Here’s The Ultimate Airball Compilation

Thursday’s edition of S.I.’s Hot Clicks contained a lot of gems (‘sup, Ashley Sky?), but none more enjoyable and reassuring than this compilation video of NBA players airballing shots. The first day of my Houston Rockets fandom was met with Jeremy Lin throwing up a Brandon Stroud-esque airball from three-point range, so it’s nice to see everyone doing it, and not just star...
