While Kyle Lowry is out of the hospital and is recovering well from a serious bacterial infection, his status for the rest of the season is up in the air. Asked if he hoped to play again this year, Lowry said, "I don't know. Honestly, once the antibiotics system gets through we'll see. We'll go back and see what the doctor says." The Rockets have 17 games remaining in the regular season. But the fact that Lowry is not yet close to returning to the court gives an indication of the seriousness of his recent bacterial infection. Lowry last played March 7 in a game at the Toronto Raptors, but the symptoms of his illness began prior to that game. "I was feeling terrible, horrible, awful," Lowry said. "I wasn't feeling right at all. It was a bad ordeal for me. After the game I think the guys waited for me for an hour because I was trying to get an IV and they couldn't do it and I was cold. I was cold, shivering, getting chills." The next day Lowry was scheduled to get an MRI on his injured groin in New York. "The doctor that did the MRI was like, 'You don't look right,' said Lowry. "They sent me to the Knicks doctor and in the office my temperature rose from 100 to 103 within an hour. She was like, 'It's time for you to get admitted.' Lowry feels fortunate that he was scheduled for the MRI because it was at that time that doctors noticed that something else was going on medically. Lowry said he went for a period of six days without eating solid foods, relying on ice and water. "It was very scary," Lowry said. "It was very scary for a while. To have a temperature of 104 for a couple of days straight is not really a good feeling. If I had waited a little longer (to see doctors) I could have been in a real bad situation." Doctors are still not sure the cause of the infection. Lowry spent Monday morning watching his teammates prepare for the Sacramento Kings at Toyota Center. "I'm still not myself," he said. "I'm still kind of weak and lightheaded sometimes. But compared to where I was a couple of weeks ago, I'm much better."
