Found June 20, 2012 on Larry Brown Sports:
Russell Westbrook had himself a terrific, unstoppable Game 4, scoring a game-high 43 points on 20-of-32 shooting in over 45 minutes of play. But as brilliant as he was in the first 47 minutes and 46 seconds of the game, his crucial foul on Mario Chalmers with 13.8 seconds left all but ended any chance for the Thunder to pull off a last-minute comeback. The Thunder were down three with a jump ball about the commence on the Heat's offensive end of the floor. 17.3 seconds were left in the contest and Miami had just five seconds to shoot. The ball bounced around before Chalmers finally secured it. Almost instantly, Westbrook swooped in and inexplicably fouled Chalmers, leading Jeff Van Gundy to squeal on the broadcast, "Why are they fouling!?" With the shot clock ticking down and the game still very much in reach, it was the question we all had. "Just a miscommunication on my part," Westbrook said after the game. "Nothing I can do about it now.'&#...

Russell Westbrook doesn’t care about media, won’t let it dictate his play

Russell Westbrook has been the media and fans’ whipping boy whenever anything goes wrong with the Thunder. The criticism of Westbrook goes back to last season when the Thunder lost to the Mavericks in the playoffs. Many observers were watching the All-Star point guard play for the first time, and they were aghast that he didn’t play like a typical point guard. They couldn...

Westbrook is Thunders lightning rod

MIAMI When Russell Westbrook stalked off the court midway through the third quarter and arrived at the end of the bench, he punched the seat cushion he was about to sit on, an act that served as more than an expression of frustration. It also served as confirmation that once again Westbrook is what's killing the Thunder. Just kidding well, sort of. Because for Westbrook...

20 NSFW Russell Westbrook Is A Complete Mess In The NBA Finals Tweets

Game 3 of the NBA Finals was a potentially huge game for the young Oklahoma City Thunder squad, a game in which they could take the upper hand in what has been a tightly fought series. Much was expected of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the rest of the young Thunder in their first road test of the NBA Finals. How did they respond? Durant got into foul trouble and Westbrook...

Russell Westbrook is NOT to blame for Thunder’s loss

Let’s get one thing out of the way. The Oklahoma City Thunder are likely going to lose the NBA Finals. A 104-98 loss to the Miami Heat Tuesday put the Thunder down 3 games to 1. That scenario’s occurred 30 different times in NBA Finals history, and 30 times the team up 3-1 has won the series. I don’t really need the stat to tell me that Miami are clearly...

Russell Westbrook's Monster Game 4 Effort Goes to Waste After Thunder's Immaturity Shows Down Stretch

The Oklahoma City Thunder are a young team. They may still need to learn how to win close games against elite teams in difficult environments. They could learn something by watching to see how their opponent operates. The Miami Heat prevailed over the Thunder in Game 4 on Tuesday night, 104-98, to push LeBron James one win closer to earning his first-ever NBA championship ring. While...

Wrong time to teach Westbrook lesson

Remember 48 hours ago when Scott Brooks and the Oklahoma City Thunder were determined not to change Russell Westbrook's hyper-aggressive playing style? No worries. Scott Brooks doesn't remember either. Sunday night, with the Thunder up six points midway through the third quarter and flirting with taking control of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Scott Brooks decided to temper...

Westbrook learning like LeBron did

LeBron James was talkative and at ease on the afternoon before his first attempt at a final leap into NBA history. The Miami Heat can close out the Oklahoma City Thunder and the 2012 season tonight at AmericanAirlines Arena, and James didn't merely seem confident that he was about to win his first title. He looked like a man seasoned by his failures, as though he had walked through...

Heat take 3-1 series lead despite Westbrook’s 43 points

LeBron James and the Miami Heat are now only one win away from an NBA Championship. Despite Russell Westbrook’s 43 points, the Heat went on to a 104-98 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder giving them a commanding 3-1 series lead, something no other NBA team has been able to overcome in NBA finals history. LeBron James had 26 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds before being...

Are Only System Point Guards Successful in the NBA?

As I watch the current NBA finals with the Miami Heat vs. Oklahoma City Thunder, most believe that the most interesting matchup has been the Miami “Big Three” vs. the OKC “Big Three.” However, I have always been interested in the matchup between the two starting point guards, Russell Westbrook and Mario Chalmers. Most NBA [...]
