Sacramento Kings Release 6-Year NBA Veteran
USA TODAY Sports

PJ Dozier spent this past season playing for the Sacramento Kings and averaged 1.4 points per contest in 16 regular season games (he also appeared in three NBA playoff games).

On Saturday, the team announced that they had waived the six-year NBA veteran.

Via Kings PR: "The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has waived PJ Dozier."

Dozier didn't play a significant role for the Kings this past season, so getting waived is not a surprise.

In addition to the Kings, he has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets

His career averages are 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest while shooting 40.2% from the field and 30.7% from the three-point range in 121 regular season games (he has also played in 15 NBA Playoff games).

The best year of Dozier's career came in 2021 when he played for the Nuggets and averaged 7.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest while shooting 41.7% from the field in 50 regular season games.

Unfortunately, he tore his ACL the following year, so this past season was his first year back in action.

As for the Kings, they are coming off a fantastic year.

The franchise made the NBA playoffs for the first time since 2006 and was the third seed in the Western Conference with a 48-34 record.

While they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Golden State Warriors in seven games, the Kings are still seen as one of the best teams in the west going into the 2024 season.
