Found October 29, 2012 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
PLAYERS: Doc RiversJeff Green
TEAMS: Boston Celtics
"If you go small against us, you may be playing into our hands." - #Celtics Doc Rivers before the C's practice this morning. — A. Sherrod Blakely (@SherrodbCSN) October 29, 2012 The Celtics have so much versatility this season with small ball lineups. Let's see what Doc can throw out there to throw the opponents' defenses into disarray. He can throw out a 4 guard lineup with Rondo, Jet, Courtney, Barbosa, along with Jeff Green. That could be the fastest 5 man unit in the league. Or, we might see Rondo, Barbosa, Lee, Green and Wilcox. And let's say we have Rondo, Bradley, Barbosa, Lee and Green. Or, just for fun, let's see a 5 guard lineup with Rondo, Bradley, Barbosa, Lee and Jet. We wouldn't get many rebounds, but maybe we wouldn't need any with the speed, scoring, and defense of that team. Doc will be like the proverbial kid in a candy store as he picks and chooses his lineups. This is going to be a fun year. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Doc Rivers says the Heat "don't own the trophy"

ESPN Boston "I never believed that anybody is ever defending a title, because that was last year," Rivers said before Boston's offday workout at AmericanAirlines Arena on Monday. "They don’t own the trophy this year. That’s what I tell our guys: Miami isn’t considered anything. They won the title last year. You don’t give your trophy back -- that’s in...

Your Morning Dump… Where Jeff Green is aware he sucked last night

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “I don’t know that I played at all,” he said. “It starts on the defensive end, and I wasn’t as aggressive defensively as I should be, but that will change. The first couple of minutes, adrenaline kicked...

Jeff Green's new perspective on basketball

All Celtics fans are delighted with Green's healthy return to the team and his impressive performance so far as cream on top. Today, an emotional story on Boston Globe has offered some details on how Green's healing process was. Watch: Ray Allen gets cold shoulder from KG, knocks down first shot

Miami Heat guard Ray Allen checked into Tuesday night's game against his former team the Boston Celtics and received a nice hug from Celtics coach Doc Rivers.  But he didn't receive the same warm welcome from former teammate Kevin Garnett.  Watch below. Garnett said after Allen left the Celtics for the Heat that he lost his number. Garnett and Allen played five season...

Garnett gives Allen the cold shoulder

Ray Allen checked into his first game as a member of the Miami Heat with 2:45 left in the first quarter of the team’s season-opening game against the Boston Celtics. Allen, who spent five season with the Celtics but had a bad breakup as he chose to sign with the rival team, tried to give a warm greeting to his former team. He gave handshakes to his former coaches and players,...

Doc Rivers Keeps Bashing Ray Allen

The media down in Miami asked Doc if he personally tried reaching out to Ray during Free Agency and this is what he had to say: “I tried. I actually tried to call him. After the year we talked fine and then when free agency started Ray didn’t return Danny’s calls, didn’t return my calls. I stopped trying. Listen if you’ve been with me or our team for five years or four...

KG is the fireman that will put out the Heat

Came across this great picture this morning on Anta’s official Weibo page. The artist has drawn KG as a fireman, with “Beat Heat” in the background. Notice the Anta “KG3″ on his feet.  Absolutely fantastic.. We’re 6 hours away from tip-off and Doc Rivers tells Celtics.com that the Heat’s ring ceremony “is what it is“. It’s clear that this team is focused and...

Stronger case for Sixth Man of the Year: Terry or Green?

For the first time in team history, it seems the Boston Celtics will have two legitimate candidates for NBA Sixth Man of the Year in Jason Terry (a former winner) and Jeff Green. Both will come off the bench, both will get plenty of minutes, and both will seemingly get some votes. But who has the upper hand in this battle? Jeff Green looks like he will have a career year. Hes shooting...

Celtics to Remain in Locker Room for Ring Ceremony

Normally, 30 minutes prior to tip-off, the basketball teams are on the floor shooting around, stretching out and mentally preparing for the upcoming game. Tonight, however, is not a normal game. Approximately half an hour before the NBA's new 90-second clock starts up, the Miami Heat will be receiving their 2012 Championship rings. The Celtics, on the other hand, will be out...

Chris Wilcox, Jeff Green Excited, Grateful to Be Health for Celtics' Season Opener in Miami

This time last year -- and by that we mean "on opening night" and not "Oct. 30," when the lockout was still in effect -- Jeff Green was in street clothes watching the Celtics take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Green had been diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm shortly before training camp, and he would be sidelined the entire season. Chris Wilcox was in...

Celtic fans the best when it comes to showing loyalty and support

Who can forget last year's Eastern Conference Finals Game 6 memorable show of class and support for the lads in green by the green-teamers. Doc had already pulled the 'Big Three' and the third-string unit was still playing disciplined basketball in spite of the circumstances. You can see the emotional affect it had on the whole team.  Kevin Garnett cited it as The...

Celtkicks: Open Practice

Garnett in the Anta “KG3″ Scott and I are back from today’s Celtics Open Practice, and I have to say I was impressed. First I need to give a huge shout to all the fans that came out. For a rainy Sunday morning, the place was packed. We arrived about 45 minutes before the Garden opened, and the building was mobbed. TD Garden security was forced to let folks upstairs early so...

Predicting the Boston Celtics minute distributions by position

As the season draws closer, the Celtics player rotation still needs to take shape.  This season more than others– with  so much depth and so many impact offseason additions, it remains unclear as to what player combinations the Celtics will play. Doc Rivers and the rest of the coaching staff could go many different directions as they have toyed with ‘position-less’ lineups...

T-24 hours until tip-off: 5 burning questions for Celtics

Can the C's wipe the smile off Lebron's face? Well folks it's almost here. The time for talking is nearly over, and the time for action is upon us. No I'm not talking about that jerk Sandy, I'm talking about tomorrow night's Celtics/Heat match-up. After over four months without NBA basketball, the wait is finally over. And while we unfortunately now live...

Boston 107, Miami 120 - Celtics Unable to Spoil Heat's Ring Ceremony

The raising of their championship banner did not cloud the goals of the Miami Heat on Tuesday. They defeated the Boston Celtics 120-107, on the NBA's opening night. Emotions ran high in the battle between the two rivals who's last meeting was Game 7 of the 2011-12 Eastern Conference Finals. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade didn't miss a beat in leading the Heat, scoring...
