HOUSTON -- Luis Scola reacted pretty much like everybody else did to the NBA's Great Non-Trade of 2011. "It's funny," Scola said Friday. "At some point, yesterday was kind of funny." This was remarkable, because the Rockets forward was a living component of that trade, a three-way deal hinging on Chris Paul that did not end up sending him to the New Orleans Hornets along with Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic in exchange for the Lakers' Pau Gasol. The deal was done, until NBA commissioner David Stern killed it because the NBA is currently controlling the Hornets. So Scola supposed he might as well go to Rockets camp, which opened Friday. "I'm on my way to the Toyota Center, this is going to be fun," he wrote on his Twitter page early Friday. "The good thing is that the TC it's on the way to the airport, just in case..." For now, Scola, Martin and Dragic are Rockets. But nobody knows for how long. Some involved, most especially Paul, are hopeful the commissioner will change his mind. Some felt a little awkward showing up to practice with a team that tried to trade them. These guys are professionals, but they're also human, Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. There is no real comfortable way of dealing with this. "If you're still on the team, you have to come here and be a professional," Martin said. That was Martin's approach. Just be a pro. Scola, you might say, took a "value-added" approach to his commentary. "I'm not stupid, I know Pau Gasol, I know he's a great player," Scola said. "I'd love it if I could play with him here, you know? It wasn't the case. That wasn't possible. I'm just happy I'm here." Scola said he has always felt appreciated by the Rockets organization and fans and wished to remain a Rocket forever. But he thought some of his friends overreacted to the news he had been traded. "There were some people calling me like I was dying," he said. "I'm going to go play somewhere else the same way I'm playing. I'm just changing teams. I think at some point it's a little funny. I'm prepared for everything now." And if he is eventually traded, that will be fine, too. He lives in the moment. "I can only talk for now," he said. "I'm here and I'm happy to be here. If you call me in 10 minutes and tell me I'm somewhere else, my answer will adjust to the situation."
