The Miami Heat have been getting killed on the NBA odds at times this year because they just don’t have the depth on the inside to be able to rebound with some of the best and biggest teams in the league. As a result, the team has extended 10-day contracts to both C Chris Andersen and F Jarvis Varnado.
Varnado is a particularly interesting case, as he averaged 13.8 points and 10.2 boards per game while with the Mississippi State Bulldogs in his senior season in 2009-10. He only played in the NBA for the first time this year after kicking around the D-League though, first with the Boston Celtics, and now with Miami. In five games with the C’s, Varnado put up six points and three rebounds in just 18 minutes in total. Since joining the Heat back on January 10th, Varnado has scored two points and blocked a pair of shots, and he has only appeared in two of the five games in which he was with the team.

The Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-signed forward Jarvis Varnado to a second 10-day contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Varnado, who was signed to a 10-day contract by the HEAT on January 9, appeared in two games with Miami, both victories, totaling two points and two blocks in 12 minutes of action while shooting 1-of-2 from the field.
ROCKING THE MIC
Miami Heat forward Shane Battier apparently loves his karaoke — so much so, that he pitched his own South Beach showcase called Battieoke 2013. And, if you think he limited vocal embarrassment to just bench warmers and rookies, here are high-flying teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade serenading a lucky lady to the mid-90s Shai hit “If I Ever Fall In Love”. On Monday, Miami Heat forward Shane Battier held his annual charity event, South Beach Battioke, a no-holds-barred karaoke jam. Among the participants were none other than teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
Now, this isn’t the first time LeBron has rocked the karaoke mic, as you may recall last year when he donned a wig and busted out “Super Freak” by Rick James, but to...
You might be aware that former Denver Nugget, Chris “Birdman” Andersen recently inked a 10-day deal with the Miami Heat and it was during Shane Battier’s annual charity event Monday evening, and the whole Heat crew took in some Battioke (Battier + Karoke. Get it?) and Birdman and Mike Miller sang some Vanilla Ice. Birdman + Miller [...]The post Mike Miller and Birdman...
Miami Heat players Mike Miller and Chris “Birdman” Andersen participated in Shane Battier’s “Battioke 2013″ at the Eden Roc Hotel in South Beach by singing “Ice, Ice Baby” from Vanilla Ice.
Michael Jordan worked hard to cultivate a regal image in public in the latter half of his career. Kobe Bryant comes across as cold and rude.
LeBron James, meanwhile, sings karaoke.
The Heat star showed once again that he is not afraid to reveal his lighter side by busting out his dance moves to sing Michael Jackson songs at a recent event. The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player sang...
The Miami Heat have signed Chris "Birdman" Andersen to a 10-day contract. He played in only 32 games for the Nuggets last season.
Earlier this month, Shane Battier of the Miami Heat uploaded a video of himself dressed like a ship’s captain, singing the theme to ‘The Love Boat.’ It was the worst THE BEST, advertised his second annual “South Beach Battioke” celebrity karaoke event, and allowed me to make a joke about LeBron James singing Pretty Ricky. As it turns out … I wasn’t that far off.Behold...

As previously noted on That NBA Lottery Pick, Shane Battier held his annual charity karaoke event which allowed some of his teammates to sing some classics.Check out the below video of Dwyane Wade and LeBron James singing at the event and serenading one fan with some unique vocals:(Courtesy of Terez Owens)
Just when we thought that Dwyane Wade and LeBron James put out the best performance at the Shane Battier charity karaoke event, this clip of Mike Miller and Chris Anderson performing a Vanilla Ice song is posted.Check out Miller's bling and Birdman's smooth vocals while singing "Ice Ice Baby":
After rumors swirled today over the controlling interest of the Sacramento Kings being sold to the Chris Hansen/Steve Ballmer group in Seattle, it appears that the Seattle Sonics will be playing in the NBA as soon as next season. There were many varied reactions on Twitter including one from Miami Heat star LeBron James who ripped the sale for being over $525 million dollars:When...

There are two sides to every NBA Power Ranking: the Fanalytical and the Fanatical. As a Miami HEAT blogger living on the east coast, MHI plays the fan for the Western Conference. As a Denver Nuggets fan living west of the Mississippi River, Mrs. NBA plays the fanalyst. The roles are reversed for the Eastern Conference. 1.
