Roma has announced a preliminary deal for Sheik Adnan Adel Aref al Qaddumi al Shtewi to enter its ownership group.
In 2011, a group of four Boston executives closed a deal to become the first foreign majority owners of a Serie A club, but Roma continues to seek more funding which could aid its plan to build a new stadium.
Al Qaddumi is believed to be of Qatari heritage although the Gazzetta dello Sport reports that he has been a resident in Italy for 25 years.
Roma says in a statement that the deal allows Al Qaddumi to enter ''directly or indirectly in the company that controls NEEP Roma Holding SpA.''
Financial details were not disclosed.
Last year, Boston Celtics minority owner James Pallotta replaced Thomas DiBenedetto as Roma president.

Should Pierce get traded, the 27 point comeback vs. the Nets in 2002 will always be my favorite Truth moment
Accoring to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the Celtics are shopping Captain Paul Pierce, but a move remains unlikely because of what they are looking for.

According to Celtics radio play-by-play man Sean Grande KG is sitting out tonight to rest.
Kevin Garnett (rest) will not play tonight in Phoenix. It's the first game he's missed this year.

Garnett has played in all 54 games this season, but the C's will have to find a way to avoid an 0-3 start to the road trip without...
Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett was heckled at Wednesday night's game at the Staples Center by a Los Angeles Lakers fan who simply shouted "Kevin!" over and over again.
ESPN microphones picked up the fan very clearly heckling Garnett at one point during the second quarter as Dwight Howard was shooting free throws.
Although not very creative on the fan'...

The Boston Celtics currently sit with a roster of 13 bodies, but two — Rajon Rondo and Jared Sullinger — will miss the rest of the 2013 season.
The Celtics may be looking to add a big man to their core, and one name that has popped up is DJ White. According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Boston Celtics will look to sign the former Charlotte Bobcat to a 10-day contract.
As the NBA trade deadline nears, the Washington Wizards traded guard Jordan Crawford to the Boston Celtics for Leandro Barbosa, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The Celtics marched into Laker-land with dead feet and tired minds. You could see from the get go that the momentum they had built prior to the all-star break was drying up faster than Kevin Garnett's resolve.
We could argue and beat a dead horse about the lack of point guard play, but no one hardly speaks about the elephant in the room. The very real need for a rugged big...
Hearing that Celtics have former Charlotte big man D.J. White in their sights for 10-day deal now that White’s season in China is over
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) February 22, 2013
White’s yet another under-sized big (6’9″)… but at this point, under-sized bigs are better than no bigs.
White has had success at every level besides the NBA, really. His last D-League...
The Celtics players can exhale now that the trade deadline has past with barely a blip on the radar screen. Boston has made some minor moves to add to their guard core, but still failed to address the donut hole in the middle. The one thing that makes me wander what the "#@#$", Doc Rivers and Danny have in mind for the race to the playoffs was the trade of Jason Collins...
Tonight, the Celtics lost a game that they definitely should have won. It seemed like the opening couple of minutes screwed them for the rest of the game. They trailed by nine after the first and never improved. In the fourth quarter, they made a very small run that gave then some momentum as they got to within 12. After that, they gave up, the Lakers regained a 20-point lead, and...

CelticsLife Game Recap
Players are graded on a curve
Brandon Bass: 6 Points, 6 Rebounds
He didn't blow up offensively like most of the other players on the team, but he did put in some effort on the boards. It was a quiet game compared to everyone else tonight.
Jeff Green: 31 Points...
No KG? No problem! This game wasn’t fun to watch if you are a Suns fan, and the forums showed. Jeff Green started at center for the C’s and had his way with them. The Suns fans were out in full quirkiness with their unabashed sorrow for their awful team. The only thing they got jacked up for was when the Morris’s bro and Garrett got some PT…. oh the good ‘ol days of getting...
Led by Jeff Green's 31 points, the Boston Celtics cruised to a 25 point victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. Highlights above, box score below.
Boston Celtics 113, Phoenix Suns 88 - FINAL - February 22, 2013
Boston Celtics (29-26)
The greatest rivalry in all of basketball usually doesn't need any extra story lines to enhance the game but on a tragic night like yesterday there wasn't any way to ignore them. This was the Lakers first game without Dr.Buss and it clearly was an emotional one. The architect of many great Laker teams wasn't there to support his franchise any longer but the players seemed...
