Showtime Era Great Wasn't A Big Fan Of "Winning Time"
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

"Winning Time," HBO's big-budget, star-studded fictionalization of the Showtime-era Los Angeles Lakers, was recently cancelled after two well-reviewed but under-seen seasons.

While fans may be bemoaning its axing, it certainly sounds like a key starter from that era won't miss the prestige dramatization.

TMZ Sports cornered former Showtime starting two-guard Byron Scott recently, and he was surprisingly candid about his feelings regarding the series.

"I wasn't a big fan of the show because I know a lot of it was fabricated in certain ways just to make it more interesting for the fans which is cool, that's TV," Scott said. "That's Hollywood. That's what they do."

Scott, an Inglewood native, was selected with the fourth pick in the 1983 NBA draft, and quickly went on to win three championships with the franchise.
