Sixers never trail in impressive win over Clippers

Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey scored 24 points apiece as the visiting Philadelphia 76ers opened the fourth quarter on a 20-4 run and pulled away for a 121-107 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

Cameron Payne had a season-high 23 points for Philadelphia (39-32), which led wire-to-wire and snapped a two-game losing skid. Kelly Oubre Jr. finished with 12 points and a season-high six assists, and Paul Reed had 10 points.

Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell led Los Angeles (44-26) with 20 points apiece. Paul George scored 18 points, Ivica Zubac had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and James Harden finished with 12 points and 14 assists.

Powell returned after missing three games with a lower leg bruise and was 7-of-11 shooting from the field for Los Angeles, which lost their fourth straight home game.

Philadelphia led 88-83 before holding the Clippers to four points in the first 5:34 of the fourth quarter. Payne hit a 3-pointer to put the Sixers up by 20 with 5:06 remaining to help the Sixers secure their fourth straight win over the Clippers.

Maxey had 19 points in the second half for Philadelphia, which bounced back from a 101-94 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. The Sixers played without star Joel Embiid, who missed his 25th straight game with a left knee meniscus injury.

Harris scored 11 points in the opening quarter for the Sixers, who outscored the Clippers 41-29 while shooting 68 percent from the field and 7 of 9 from 3-point range.

Payne scored five straight points to cap a 14-4 run and give the Sixers a 50-33 lead with 9:43 left in the second quarter. The Clippers closed on a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 63-56 at the half.

Harris led all scorers with 19 points in the first half, while Leonard had 12 to lead the Clippers.
