#Sixers officially announced team has re-signed Tony Battie. — Philadelphia 76ers (@Sixers) December 12, 2011  Yahoo had an article about Tony Battie and really summed it up best. Battie appeared in nearly half the games for the 76ers in the 2010-11 season and averaged about 10 minutes. While those aren't spectacular numbers, they are really valuable to a team that is a little weak on the inside. Battie gives nice depth at both center and power forward. That is important for team that has had health issues with Elton Brand and inconsistent play from Spencer Hawes. In terms of a backup center, there wasn't a better player available for the team to get.
