The player? Chris Paul. The new product the dynamic Los Angeles Clippers point guard has become involved in? Cologne. The name of that cologne? Untouchable. Nice. While Chris Paul is a millionaire many times over, much like Cosmo Kramer, CP3 apparently has long-held dreams of becoming a fragrance millionaire. And that’s where CP3′s partnership with AVON comes into play. Set to launch on Father’s Day, Untouchable is a cologne, but it’s more than just a manly, masculine fragrance that smells like…victory? Since I cannot lay on the smarm as thick as AVON so expertly does, I’ll allow the company’s announcement do all the heavy lifting for me. Avon Products, Inc. today announced that Los Angeles Clippers basketball star Chris Paul will be joining the company’s team as the face of a new men’s fragrance, Untouchable. A legend in the making, Paul –husband, proud father of two and founder of the CP3 Foundation – represents the future of basketball and the power of the will to win. The new scent will capture the thrill of hitting the court when the crowd is going wild, sinking the game-winning shot and bringing home victory. “The drive to win is what gets me out of bed every morning,” explains Paul. “This new scent with Avon will capture the competitive attitude that motivates me to play my best on and off the court.” “Chris Paul is such an incredible role model,” explains Meg Lerner, Vice President Avon North America Marketing. “He is truly living the American dream, and he owes it all to his hard work and dedication. The new fragrance represents that commitment and all that he has achieved at such a young age.” There are several neat videos on AVON’s website featuring Chris Paul, his adorable son, Christopher Emmanuel II, and some mad dribbling, primping and posing, all in front of a borderline disconcerting neon green set. And here is one of them: So, according to what I just read, Untouchable “will capture the thrill of hitting the court when the crowd is going wild, sinking the game-winning shot and bringing home victory”? That’s some pretty powerful stuff. And it must be far superior to the Drakkar Noir I usually spray on myself. Usually, I’m left with a sense of shame and for some reason, feeling like I’m only trying to cover up the stink from high school gym class. I don’t know, maybe I’m putting it on wrong.
