Found December 05, 2012 on Celtics Green ...a boston celtics blog.:
Danny Ainge hinted that the Celtics could be looking to add a big man to fill the spot vacated by Darko when he returned to Serbia to care for his mother who is ill. Kenyon Martin's name has been bandied about quite a bit. The Globe quotes Martin's agent as saying that he has not had any conversations with the Celtics about Martin as yet. The same article mentions that an NBA source stated that the Celtics have considered bringing in Erick Dampier. Don't you just love NBA sources? It could be anyone from a GM to a janitor who overheard a conversation after practice. The Celtics need a toughness infusion after they were called out as being soft by Doc Rivers. They also need some help on the boards as they have been out-rebounded in 13 of 17 games. They could also use a good defender to help KG anchor the defense and to take over when KG goes to the bench. Sounds to me like they need Perk back, but that's just me. I have a feeling that things are going to start happening after December 15, which is the date that players who were signed in the offseason can be traded. There is also January 10, when the players on non guaranteed contracts are guaranteed for remainder of the season. And, of course, there is the trade deadline on February 21. Danny could wait to see who is waived and who is available before making a move now. Leandro Barbosa has missed the past 2 practices with "an illness." I guess an illness is this year's "flu-like symptoms." Chris Wilcox had "the illness" for a few days and now Barbosa has it. I guess the "illness" is going around. If the illness is the flu, as I suspect, expect it to go through the team - or even the league. Reggie Evans of the Nets missed last night's game with "an illness" also. Barbosa was able to participate in the shoot around this morning and is listed at probable as of this morning. According to A Sherrod Blakely on CSSNE, Kris Joseph could be back with the team for tonight's game. Also, Celtics rookie Kris Joseph is expected to suit up tonight for the C's as well with Fab Melo and Avery Bradley remaining on the inactive list. Joseph, who has shuttled back and forth between Boston and the C's D-League affiliate (the Maine Red Claws), embraces every opportunity he gets to play whether it's in Boston or with the Red Claws. "I'm just trying to keep getting better," he told CSNNE.com. "Going against Paul (Pierce) and Jeff (Green) in practices and taking what I learn to practice and games in Maine, is only going to make me a better player in the long run." The new arrangement with the Red Claws is very beneficial to the Celtics. They are close enough that they can call up players on the spur of the moment. They can have unlimited call ups this season as opposed to only 3 in previous seasons. The biggest advantage is that the Celtics are the only affiliate of the Red Claws and so they can run the Celtics system and plays in Maine. Players can continue to get better in the Celtics system rather than having to learn all new plays for the D-league team. Last night was a good night. The Celtics had off, but the Thunder beat the Nets. It was nice seeing the Brooklyn Thugs getting muscled around by Perk and the Thunder. The Heat also lost to the Wizards. I had to chuckle a bit over that one. And finally, the Rockets beat the Lakers. Harden got some payback on Artest and the Fakers are now 2 games under .500 and in considerable disarray with Kobe sniping at Gasol, Gasol resting his gimpy knees, and Dwight Howard already talking about going elsewhere if he wants to win a ring. Good times. [Discuss on CG Forums!]

Fan finds cool souvenir at Boston concert, Rajon Rondo's driver's license

Rajon Rondo and a few of hid Celtics teammates (Rondo and Chris Wilcox pictured below) were at the House of Blues Tuesday night for the 2 Chainz concert. Someone found his driver's license at the concert and posted a pic of it on Facebook. No truth to the rumor they are trying to trade it back to Rondo for some nail polish. Thanks Ryan for the tip.

Bradley to Return to Practice in 7-10 Days

On the pregame show, CSNNE is reporting that Avery Bradley is set to begin practicing with the team in 7-10 days. This fits with the timetable that he gave earlier in the season that put him back practicing in mid-December. He will need to get his conditioning back and get back into game shape and expects to return to the court for games just after the New Year. The Celtics...

Did Doc calling the Celtics soft help light a fire underneath them?

It's been eight days, and three games, since Doc Rivers called his team soft following their rather embarrassing loss at home against the Nets. Since then the team is 2-1, beating the Blazers by 18, losing in Milwaukee by 3 (both of these games without Rajon Rondo) and then beating the Timberwolves by 10 last night. More than just the results though, the team has played differently...

Video: Celtics Locker Room Report: Rondo Comes Back, But Doesn’t Want to Talk About It

Rajon Rondo came back form a two-game suspension to lead the Celtics over the Timberwolves with his 14th double-double of the night, recording 17 points and 11 assists. While there is a lot to talk about the Celtics’ PG, he didn’t have much to say after the game. Doc Rivers had a lot more to [...]

Rajon Rondo vacationed in Mexico during suspension, says he learned nothing

Rajon Rondo returned to practice with the Boston Celtics on Monday following his two-game suspension for a fight with Brooklyn Nets forward Kris Humphries last week. The Celtics won one game and lost the other without their starting point guard, but failed to crack the 100-point mark in either contest. Rondo is happy to be back with his teammates, but that doesn’t mean he was miserable...

Kevin Garnett Must Break His Instinct to Be Unselfish on Offense as Celtics Become More Careful With His Playing Time

BOSTON — Kevin Garnett said he was not doing anything differently, that his attention was still on his defense first and foremost while he took his offense as it came within the flow of the game. Anybody who has watched Garnett play over the years, though, can see how unnatural it looked and how uncomfortable he must have felt taking so many shots, so early in the game, because...

Red Claws Move to 3-2 With 113-111 Win over Erie (video)

The Red Claws get back into the winning column with a 113-111 win over the Erie Bayhawks. With Kris Joseph still with the Celtics, Chris Wright filled in nicely at the small forward spot and finished with 14 points 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Fab Melo started and finished with 6 points (3-8), 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks in just under 26 minutes. Most importantly...

Celtics Beat Wolves 104-94 In the Return of Stiemsma

The Celtics played their first game in five days as the Minnesota Timberwolves came to the TD Garden. This marked the first return of Greg Stiemsma coming back to Boston. While he wasn't the most important player last year, "Steamboat" quickly became a fan and team favorite due to his hard work and shot blocking ability. The night also marked the return of Rajon Rondo...

Kendrick Perkins: Still Making Boston Proud

Disclaimer: This post is a tribute to Celtics' culture and the high-character players it produces, not another debate about the Jeff Green-Perkins trade. For that, go here. Though Kendrick Perkins' production has been a disappointment to Oklahoma City Thunder fans, he has stepped up in other ways. Apparently, he has been a great locker room presence, helping to sooth player...

1987 NBA Champs T-Shirt

Of course had Len Bias lived the Celtics would've likely won the 1987 title.  Maybe 1988 too.  I actually one time saw a Philadelphia 76ers 1984 NBA Champs t-shirt in a store, which is weird since they didn't even make the Finals that year.  Of course if this was the caricature shirt of the 2010 bunch (with Sheed and Finley) I would've just bought it myself but this...

Could Anderson Varejao end up in Boston?

Teammates Soon? Anderson Varejao is one of the polarizing players, you love when he plays for your team but hate when he plays for the other guys. I personally am of the latter; I could never stand the guy. Just the way the Side-Show-Bob-look-alike plays grinds my gears and when Benedict LeBron was still in Cleveland, they were a match made in heaven. The flopping, the whining...

Role Players, Second-Tier Scorers and How Danny Ainge Can’t Tell The Difference

Meet Courtney Lee, shooting guard for the Boston Celtics. He’s a decent on-ball defender at-best and can score in bunches when given the chance. Some would call that being a role player, but I assure you that’s not the case.
