Son of ex-Bobcats coach arrested

(By Steve Lyttle, slyttle@charlotteobserver.com) A son of former Charlotte Bobcats coach Bernie Bickerstaff was arrested and charged with DWI early Sunday, according to Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office records.Bernard Bickerstaff, 32, who lives in Charlotte, was released on $500 bond.His older brother, J.B., was arrested in 2006 on DWI charges. At the time, J.B. Bickerstaff was an assistant coach of the Bobcats, serving under his father. Bernie Bickerstaff was released as head coach of the team after the 2006-07 season.WBTV, citing witnesses, is reporting that Bernard Bickerstaff was involved in a wreck about 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Hamilton Street, near the uptown area. According to WBTV, Bickerstaff's vehicle crashed into a lot, smashing into two unoccupied cars.
