The San Antonio Spurs desperately need MVP candidate Kawhi Leonard on the court for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. There’s no other way to go about it.

If San Antonio loses Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors, they will fall down 3-0 in the series. No team in the history of the NBA playoffs has come down from that deficit to win a series.

With the Spurs, this is magnified even further after they lost Game 2 Tuesday night by the score of 136-100 in an absolutely humiliating effort.

Unfortunately for fans in San Antonio, Leonard remains questionable for the game and did not practice on Thursday, according to ESPN's Michael C. Wright.

“The availability of Spurs star forward Kawhi Leonard remained in question Thursday for Game 3 of the Western Conference finals as the team took part in its first practice in preparation for Saturday’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors,” ESPN’s Michael C. Wright reported. “Leonard did not participate in Thursday’s workout, but multiple players said they saw the forward at the club’s practice facility.”

San Antonio has been outscored by 61 points since Leonard exited Game 1 of the series due to an ankle injury with just over eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. During that very same span (five and a half quarters), Golden State has scored an absurd 194 points.

Leonard is the only member of the Spurs who can create his own shot from the perimeter.

For the sake of all of us who want to see a competitive series, let’s hope Leonard is able to make it on the court for Saturday’s game. Practices over the next two days will almost certainly dictate whether that happens.
