The San Antonio Spurs are usually the team staying out of the headlines. They’re quiet, they take care of business and they win year after year. I guess there are a few exceptions, namely Tony Parker’s occasional playboy lifestyle and drama, but for the most part, the Spurs are pretty squeaky clean. Lately that hasn’t been the case. The Spurs became the big story in the NBA when they were fined for resting their starters against the Miami Heat. They added on when a picture started circulating from a Halloween party where Tim Duncan and Tony Parker were pointing fake guns at a guy dressed as referee Joey Crawford. And finally, Stephen Jackson was fined $25,000 for a tweet threatening to punch Serge Ibaka. To the rest of the world, this deviation from the norm might seem like it would hurt the team, but coach Gregg Popovich says that’s not the case. “It’s drama to other people, but things happen and we move on,” Popovich said. “We don’t even discuss it. Nobody even talks about it. We don’t worry about any of it. I don’t bring it up. Players don’t bring it up. It’s like when you’re in a game. You make a mistake and you move on. You miss a shot and you move on. Something off the court happens and you move on.” If anyone can move on from senseless drama, it’s probably the Spurs. In fact, they’re probably already past it while we’re still talking about it. After the overtime win against the Rockets on Monday, the Spurs are the sole owners of the best record in the NBA. You tell me if they’re letting all the off-court issues affect them.

Spurs, Parker defeat Rockets in OT thriller

The San Antonio Spurs came in this game with 1-0 advantage so far this season against the Houston Rockets. The Rockets were without starting shooting guard James Harden, who hurt his ankle the night before against the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs started off sluggish in the first quarter with horrible offense while the Rockets were playing with energy despite not building a huge...

Spurs claim to be NBA's bad boys, recent actions agree

The San Antonio Spurs have always been thought of as that grind-it-out team. That team that methodically breaks down defenses with its passing and low post play. Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili have long been able to slither their way through defenses and Duncan was just a point guard in a post's body with the way he could break down defenses with his post moves and the pass. ...

Starting 5: The defense rests

Every morning, we will give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Only One D in Texas The Spurs have not been a defensive-minded team for a few years now. Gregg Popovich has successfully turned his team from a defensive, half-court team to one that gets up the floor and can score in a variety of ways -- using the 3-pointer as much as the hedged...
