The first round for the San Antonio Spurs is officially penciled in against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Spurs won the regular season series 2-1 against the Lakers, but this is going to be a far more different series than we saw in the regular season.
Kobe Bryant is out for the season and so is his 27.5ppg average against the silver and black this season. While the Lakers also have Steve Nash's status up in the air with injuries, the Spurs will be without Boris Diaw (back) for the first round. Manu Ginobili will play his second game from injury in Game 1, where he's averaging 11ppg, 4.5rpg, and 3.5apg in two games in the regular season against the Lakers. The newest San Antonio Spur, Tracy McGrady, is likely to make his debut in the playoffs against the Lakers also to help bolster the team's offensive attack.
The Spurs averaged 92.6ppg against the Lakers this season while the Lakers have also averaged 92.6ppg against the Spurs.
The Spurs come into the series on a 3-game losing streak while the lakers are riding high and on a 5-game winning streak despite not having Bryant.

With the Los Angeles Lakers making it into the playoffs despite losing Kobe Bryant at season’s end and a first-round playoff series with the San Antonio Spurs looming on the horizon with the first game on Sunday, the battle lines have been drawn in House Artest (or the House formerly known as Artest but now going by World Peace — or something). Why? Because Metta World Peace’s...
PAU! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!
Kobe Bryant took to Twitter to show that even though he won't be on the court during the team's playoff run doesn't mean he doesn't have his teammate's backs.
The playoff picture shifted on Monday night as the Houston Rockets (45-36) lost on the road in Phoenix to the Suns.
The idle Lakers (44-37) have one game remaining - against the same Rockets who are now just one game ahead. By virtue of a better conference record, a Lakers' victory would secure the seventh seed in the Western Conference, much to the delight of Kobe Bryant, who...
With just over three minutes left in last Friday’s game against Golden State, Kobe Bryant walked off the court for the last time this season. Since then, the Lakers have won every game, securing the seventh seed in the Western Conference. In doing so, they avoid the defending Western Conference Champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.

Getting into the playoffs turned out to be easier than expected for the Lakers.
The Lakers clinched at least the eighth seed in the Western Conference after the Utah Jazz fell to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Lakers entered the night a game ahead of the Jazz with one game remaining in the season. A loss to the Rockets coupled with a win by the Jazz would have eliminated the Lakers...
Tony Parker and the San Antonio Spurs are closing in on playoff season and it couldn't come sooner for the Frenchman. During his French radio show, (via French site RMC Sport), Parker discussed which team he'll like to meet in the playoffs, Kobe Bryant's injury, and more.

After a ruptured Achilles defanged The Black Mamba, Kevin Garnett looked to the magic of texting to send his best wishes. Even the fiercest rivals hate to see each other fall to injury, and in this case you know Garnett was hoping to meet Kobe Bryant in The Finals to exact his vengeance for 2010. Despite their history of playoff showdowns (including Kevin's Minnesota days), Kobe...

In a pre-game interview, John Ireland asked Coach Mike D’Antoni what he planned to tell the team in order to get ready for tonight’s game.
“Bad things are gonna happen, “ D’Antoni said. “But don’t tie your troubles together.”
There were certainly troubles with which the Lakers had to face tonight. A team who averaged the...
