The San Antonio Spurs pursued a sign-and-trade deal for Andrei Kirilenko, but talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves have broken off.
Flip Saunders has shown little to no interest in facilitating a sign-and-trade for Kirilenko.
The Wolves were interested in a combination of assets from the Spurs in exchange for Kirilenko, but were unable to take back the $8 million to $9 million in necessary salaries to make a deal work.
Kirilenko opted out of the $10 million owed him in the final year of his contract and has been searching for a multi-year deal.

AK-47 must have really wanted to get out of Minnesota.
After opting out of a $10 million salary with Minnesota, Kirilenko will get the Nets mini-mid level of $3.1 million, per source.

San Antonio Spurs: Marco Belinelli Signing Grade
By Brandon Hartman
Belinelli’s contract: 2 years, 6 million
Analysis: The signing of the seventh year guard out of Italy is all about adding and replacing depth for the Spurs. This move might seem a strange one at first glance, seeing that they already have the dynamic Danny Green and an aging legend in Manu Ginobli at shooting guard...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Andrei Kirilenko won't leave the Twin Cities many signature moments to remember him by, but that isn't because the veteran small forward didn't make a difference during his one season with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The man nicknamed after a gun just operates more like an M-16 than a bazooka.
The guy they call AK-47 takes a knack for steady, persistent...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Directing traffic and slicing through frontcourt double teams inside the Target Center Lifetime Fitness center Wednesday afternoon, Alexey Shved gave off every impression of a seasoned NBA veteran.
Relative to most of his current workout buddies, the Timberwolves guard fits that description.
But it was just four months ago that an overused Shved trudged wearily out...
San Antonio Spurs' Matt Bonner is a man of many talents. He is deadly from the three-point line, is a sandwich aficionado, an actor (Coach B), a comedian, and it appears he is also quite the musician.
Bonner was caught playing the tambourine with the band "Deer Tick" to the song "La Bamba."
Yeah so I better just shut up so you can just check out this...
MINNEAPOLIS -- The NBA's salary cap for the 2013-14 season is now set, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are sitting fairly pretty as free agency officially opens.
The league Tuesday night set the cap at 58.678 million and announced a luxury tax level of 71.748 million. The league-wide July Moratorium ends at 11:01 p.m., when draft picks and free agents are allowed to sign contracts...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Luke Ridnour is headed back to Milwaukee, Corey Brewer returning to the Twin Cities, and the Timberwolves now should be able to welcome Kevin Martin into the fold.
According to multiple media reports, Brewer and Minnesota have agreed upon a three-year, 15 million deal. In order to clear the necessary cap space, the Timberwolves plan to send Luke Ridnour to Milwaukee...
Marco Belinelli is 27, an age where most athletes sustain peak performance for a few years before their athleticism drops off as they enter their early 30's, and the San Antonio Spurs will be his fifth professional team (Golden State, New Orleans, Toronto, Chicago) in seven seasons. A precarious position, to be sure.
He's played on just two playoff teams -- the...
Four days ago word came out that San Antonio Spurs restricted free agent guard Gary Neal was gaining attention on the open market and the Spurs might not be able to match the price teams are asking for Neal.
Though none of those team names were released, it seems the Milwaukee Bucks are one of four teams who have interest in Neal according to Gery Woelfel of the JournalTimes...
Forward Davis Bertans (traded to the San Antonio Spurs during the 2011 NBA Draft) is currently on the road to recovery after suffering an ACL tear which required surgery. He is in good spirits and is looking to come back a "beast" as he put it once he is back on the court.
However, before he even stepped foot on a court, did you know he nearly lost his entire hand in...
The second best center on the free agent market appears to have finally locked up a new deal as the restricted free agent Nikola Pekovic is reportedly nearing an agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski writes that Pekovic and the Timberwolves are "getting closer" on a four year deal in the $50 million range.
It is a little weird...
Aside from the wheeling and dealing of NBA free agency during the offseason, personally I enjoy the summer basketball tournaments overseas. It truly is competitive and tough going when a chance to qualify for Olympic play is on the line.
Foreign born NBA players usually jump at the chance to represent their home country, much to the dismay of their respective NBA fan base and...
Gary Neal got hot during the NBA Playoffs, and it might allow him to cash out with a nice payday.
The Racine Journal Times is reporting that the Milwaukee Bucks are one of four teams in pursuit of the Spurs restricted free agent guard.
Bucks are 1 of 4 teams in mix for Gary Neal.
