If there was any other major storyline of the 2013 NBA playoffs besides LeBron, it had to be the emergence of some of the young stars that will be around the NBA for a long time. While Paul George of the Indiana Pacers gave the Heat everything they could handle in the 7 game ECF, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry solidified his position among the best point guards in the league with his performance. Averaging 23.4 ppg and 8.1 ast, Curry showed why he is the purest shooter in the league today. So naturally after that great performance in the playoffs, many have tried to rank Curry in the crowded group of elite point guards. But if you ask Curry himself, where he ranks really doesn’t matter. Per RealGM: “Somewhere in there,” Curry said. “It doesn’t matter. What’s the separation? From 1 to 10, is it that much of a drop off where you’re like, ‘Ahhh, I wish I was higher?’ It doesn’t make a difference. “If you’re in that group, on any given night you are going to play like you’re the best. It’s just who can be more consistent.” “I think the only consistent thing is Chris Paul is in the top two no matter what you say the criteria is, pretty much,” Curry said. With the return of Derrick Rose this season it’ll be interesting to see just how the upper echelon of floor generals shakes out this season. I will say I definitely agree with Curry, Chris Paul is at the top of any list right now concerning point guards.
