Madison Square Garden is a place where players want to leave their mark. Michael Jordan scored 55 points one night back in 1995 and Kobe Bryant went a few points better and dropped 61 points in 2009. Now Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry produced the third highest point total at MSG when he scored 54 points against the New York Knicks. Curry played all 48 minutes and had six rebounds and seven assists to go with his 54 points. With the 54 points he is now leader for most points in a game this season in the NBA. Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant had held that record when he scored 52 points earlier this season. After the game Curry reflected on his performance, “I felt good all night. Obviously played the whole game, so was just trying to keep my legs underneath me on the offensive end, and you know, just stick to the game on the defensive end. Once I started seeing that three-ball go down in transition, all sorts of spots on the floor, I knew it was going to be a good night.” Personally it was a great night for Curry, but the Warriors fell short and ended up losing the game to the Knicks 109-105. Knicks Tyson Chandler was amazed by Curry’s performance, “He’s a special young player with a very unique talent. We ran everything at him. He just got hot. There was some shots that he couldn’t have seen the rim.” Knicks Raymond Felton blocked Curry’s last shot to help secure a win for New York. Felton on Curry and the game, “My main thing is to keep playing. Like I said, once a guy gets it going like that, there’s nothing I can really do. I’ve still got to stay in my mindset, still play my game, and I was still able to come up with some big plays at the end. We all came up with some big plays to get that win.”
