It’s tough to learn that someone you care about has fallen on hard times, especially when you made history alongside that person.

Steve Kerr can attest to this.

His former Chicago Bulls teammate and comrade, Dennis Rodman, is reportedly broke, ill, and in arrears of child-support payments.

On the “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000 in Chicago, Kerr expressed his feelings on the subject.

Yeah it does, it makes me really, really sad,” Kerr said. “Everybody on that [Bulls] team really loved Dennis and enjoyed him, and we all have a soft spot for him, and part of that is because of his vulnerability as a human being. He was always so willing to show his emotions, like he did at the Hall of Fame ceremony. You knew how much the game meant to him and how much the players on the team meant to him.

I’m sure Kerr isn’t the only one who was a part of that team, including Coach Phil Jackson whom Rodman considers as a father figure, that has concern for him. According to Kerr, helping Rodman is “something I’m going to look into for sure.”

What can be done, though? Rodman has lived his life, his way, for many years now. Alcohol abuse and late nights do catch up to a person.

What will become of 'The Worm?"

I’m tired of hearing about athletes who have lost their way and their money, and I don’t say this in a crass way, but in a “some things need to change” way. It’s just difficult to tell a grown man or woman who gets paid incredible amounts of money for their athletic prowess how to live.
