The Los Angeles Lakers are hoping Steve Nash can direct the offense, set up pick-and-rolls and shoot lights out like he has for so many seasons.  But that didn't happen in the Lakers season-opener Tuesday night as Nash said he felt frustrated. "It is frustrating a little bit because I feel like we're thinking too much instead of playing," Nash said via the LATimes.com. "At the same time, we don't have the confidence just to play. We're not totally confident in where we're going. But we've grown a lot. We've come a long way with it and we'll get better with it." Nash finished the night with seven points on 3-of-9 shooting and four assists in 34 minutes.  He was one for four from the three-point line. "I need to assert myself more in pick-and-roll situations," Nash said. "I'm caught trying to get the ball moving in the Princeton [offense] and get us into different sets and opportunities, and tonight we didn't do a good job getting into the Princeton and we didn't get a lot of stuff in pick-and-roll actions. "So it's growing pains and it's a struggle and we're out of sync and we're probably going to have some more moments and games like that." The Lakers lost 99-91 to the Mavericks as center Dwight Howard finished the night with 10 rebounds and 19 points while Kobe Bryant scored 22 points and Pau Gasol led the team with 23 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers play in Portland tonight against the Trailblazers.
