PLAYERS: Steve Nash
TEAMS: Los Angeles Lakers
Lakers guard Steve Nash said Holiday’s play gave the Sixers a big lift. “Obviously they’re a different team with him. We beat them at their place by 20 without him,” Nash said (the margin was actually 13 points in the December meeting, 111-98). “I think he gives them obviously a very talented players but he also makes guys around him better.  He makes it more difficult for you to guard [Evan] Turner, [Jason] Richardson and the other guys on the perimeter.” “He’s a terrific player,” Nash said. “He’s an All-Star this year.” via Los Angeles Times

Steve Nash: Lakers are lacking chemistry

The Los Angeles Lakers have improved since their horrendous start to the month of December, but they still do not look like the championship contender most experts expected them to be before the season began. Steve Nash has averaged almost 10 assists per game and his return from injury has helped, but L.A. has still played inconsistently both on offense and defense. The Lakers lost...

Kobe says Lakers are old

Kobe Bryant was asked to explain the Lakers' latest loss and gave a funny answer. The sad thing for Lakers fans is the answer is true.

Kobe: 'Best I've played in a while'

The Los Angeles Lakers may have started slow at just 15-15 for the season, but one player says this is the best he's played in a long time. This is probably the best I've played in a while," Kobe Bryant told ESPN after Monday's practice.  "I've had years the last few years where I've felt pretty good but we kept my minutes down so the numbers didn...

Kobe on Lakers: 'We're just slow'

"We're just slow." Kobe Bryant's assessment of his Los Angeles Lakers after their loss Tuesday night against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers was harsh. The Lakers lost, 103-99, at Staples Center to a Sixers team led by 22-year-old point guard Jrue Holiday. "We didn't look past them. I mean, you just saw an old damn team," said Bryant, who led the...

Kobe Bryant has a reverse dunk against Sixers says Lakers are just old

2013 didn’t start out on a good note for the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are back under .500 despite Kobe having an amazing season in year 17. He’s currently leading the NBA in scoring (30.3 points per game) and shooting a career-best .479 from the field. And occasionally, he can still get up! Check out [...]

Clippers may have brighter future than Lakers

On Friday night at Staples Center, the Lakers and Clippers will face off for the second time this season, and Los Angeles' long-time second-tier franchise is in a position to take a 2-0 series lead over its more glorious, more celebrated neighbor. That alone makes the game a must-watch. But it's the fact that the Clippers are poised to compete over and perhaps win the...

Kobe calls Lakers "an old damn team", says he's playing his best basketball in awhile

You can fault Kobe for a lot of things, but certainly not for a lack of effort or commitment to winning Kobe does it again. The Lakers' elder stateman, never known for keeping his thoughts to himself, spouted his mouth again earlier Wednesday, blaming his team's recent struggles on age. From ESPN Los Angeles's Dave McMenamin: "Cause we're old as...

“They’re very spectacular. They’re fun to watch. There’s no question about it,” Bryant said Thursday before going a step further. “They have higher jumpers than Showtime, though.” …Bryant deemed the Clippers championship-worthy. “Oh, for sure. They’re definitely one of the top contenders,” he said, crediting Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. “[Paul] is extremely...
