It seems so long ago that the Dallas Mavericks took down the Miami Heat and claimed their role as NBA champions. Since then it has all been down hill. Their record last season was only good enough for the seventh seed in the Western Conference and they did not last long in the playoffs, getting swept out by Oklahoma City. This year it is going to take a miracle turnaround for the Mavs to make the playoffs, sitting at the 11th seed in the West, eight games below .500. They have fallen so far, so fast. One big issue you can easily pinpoint for the Mavs is the amount of money they are paying to aging, veteran players. As the trade deadline nears, reports are saying that Dallas may try to drop a few of these contracts. Keep an eye on Dallas, as rival executives believe the Mavericks will look to unload some of their older money if they keep losing (aka Shawn Marion, who is owed $9.3 million in the last year of his deal in 2013-14, or Vince Carter, who is owed $3.1 million in th...

Mavericks Injury News: Chris Kaman does not like the NBA's concussion protocol

Most sports leagues now have some sort of concussion protocol in place.  As we finally step into the 21st century in the sporting world, people are acknowledging that head injuries are bad.  But athletes are not as willing to sit around waiting to be cleared by doctors after suffering a concussion.  The Dallas Mavericks' Chris Kaman expressed his displeasure with the NBA...

Dallas Mavericks Basketball: up, down, what’s next?

I have for the last several seasons, defended the Dallas Mavericks, it’s organization, it’s owner and people in the decision making that controls this team. I knew that it was a matter of time before they would win the NBA Championship and Dirk would put another mark by his name, and he did; and that they would be known for something other than the “one and done boys”, and...

Johnny Manziel Was Legally Holding A Beer At Mark Cuban’s Super Bowl Party

That’s Johnny Manziel at a Super Bowl party holding what looks to be a cold beer. The young lady on the right is CBS 42 (Birmingham) reporter Alex Corddry ( ‏@ACorddry). She ran into Scooby in New Orleans on Saturday at what looks to be the HDNet party where Manziel was hanging with Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. Before anyone gets crazy over Scoob hitting a cold one at...

Thunder 112, Mavericks 91

OKLAHOMA CITY -- When Dallas has taken on Oklahoma City this year, the Mavericks haven't looked like a team fighting to reach .500. In the two previous matchups, the Mavericks lost both, but the Thunder had to go into overtime each time. However, the Mavs reverted back to form of sorts Monday in the teams' third meeting. The Thunder dominated from the opening tap and rolled...

Dallas Mavericks Institute Team-Wide Beard Pact, Won’t Shave Until They Reach .500

NHL teams retire the razors once they’ve clinched a playoff spot, but the Dallas Mavericks can’t wait any longer for some good luck. About two weeks ago, O.J. Mayo, Dahntay Jones and Vince Carter initiated a beard pact that the rest of the team soon adopted. According to the pact, the Mavs will remain a scraggly bunch until the team returns to its winning ways. “We said we’re...
