PHOENIX – Marcin Gortat scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds while Shannon Brown added 10 of his 14 points in the second half as the Phoenix Suns overcame an early 11-point deficit to beat the Detroit Pistons 92-89 Friday night. Michael Beasley rebounded from a dismal Suns debut to score 16 points and seven rebounds, and Goran Dragic added 15 points and 10 assists, including a pretty three-quarter court pass to PJ Tucker for a layup with 13 seconds left to give Phoenix a 91-86 lead. Rookie Kyle Singler hit a 3-pointer with 4.2 seconds left to pull the Pistons to within 91-89 and Phoenix's Sebastian Telfair hit only one of two free throws with 3.6 left to give Detroit one last shot. But Brandon Knight 3-point attempt for the tie was off the mark and the Suns salvaged a split on their season-opening, two-game homestand.
