LOS ANGELES - If Nick Fury was really looking to add another superhero to his S.H.I.E.L.D. organization as they gather once again to bring the world back from the brink of disaster, he could have actively recruit The Masked Mambaaka Kobe Bryant of the L.A.K.E.R.S..
Actually, if "The Avengers" were anything more than a celluloid and comic book fantasy, Bryant is probably the only athlete alive who could join the fantasy ranks of Tony Stark Iron Man; Thor; Captain America; Hawkeye; Black Widow and The Hulk, and help save the world. In fact, Stan Lee would have a hard time coming up with a character as tough and dynamic as the real-life Mamba.
In two outings since suffering his second major injury of the season during the All Star game, Bryant has scored 69 points with 15 rebounds and 11 assists, and the Lakers have scored 100 or more points twice in a row for only the second time in 36 games.
Friday night Bryant scored 38 points on 13-24 shooting as the Lakers beat Sacr...
BEST OF MAXIM
Kobe Bryant played against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
Exactly how did it happen?
He suffered a concussion Sunday in the All-Star game but his symptoms two days later were related to neck trauma, not a concussion, said Bryant's neurologist, Vern Williams.
Williams held a brief news conference before Wednesday's tip-off to clarify his findings and detail Bryant...

When you talk about the greatest players in the history of the NBA, Kobe Bryant has to be near the top of the list but what does the man himself think about it.This clip came from a summer exhibition match a couple months back where Kobe appears to say that he is second to only Wilt Chamberlain: (Courtesy of Sports Grid)
The Oklahoma City Thunder currently hold the NBA's best record this morning. They are now 29-7, a half game better than the Miami Heat, and they have won seven straight along with 9 of their last 10 overall. How far they will push that number remains to be seen, but with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook they might just have the best 1-2 punch in the NBA right now. Ryan Anderson...
Thanks to Dwayne Wades hard foul in the All-Star game this past weekend Kobe Bryant is walking around like my man Rip Hamilton. Clearly he'll eventually take the mask off, but it could be something to keep around for next Halloween. Just throw on a Bulls jersey and be the Ripper for Halloween.
Lakers fans at the Staples Center on Sunday, did not have to ask “Just who was that masked man” as Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant was recognizable just from his performance on the court as he led his club to a 93-83 victory over the Miami Heat. The “Black Mamba” wearing a full-faced plastic mask to protect his broken nose, did not seem to be hindered with the extra equipment...
Kobe Bryant scored 33 points in his third straight stellar performance since Dwyane Wade broke his nose in the All-Star game, and Wade managed just 16 points before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers' 93-83 victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday.
Metta World Peace scored 17 points while leading a solid defensive effort for the Lakers, who...
After playing with a face mask Tuesday, Kobe Bryant says he has no hard feelings toward Dwyane Wade following the concussion and broken nose he suffered from the Heat star's hard foul.
