Team Preview: Sacramento Kings  Next up on the list is Sacramento Kings. The Kings unfortunately were talked about for reasons other than their play. The Kings season was highlighted by the talks of whether or not the team would be relocated or not. However, the issue was solved and the team will remain in Sacramento. Under new ownership, the Kings organization is ready to get back to Sacramento Kings basketball! The team made a lot of moves this season, so let’s takes a look at all the moves they made this offseason: Key Additions: Key Losses: Ben McLemore (Draft) Tyreke Evans Ray McCallum Toney Douglas Carl Landry Coach, Keith Smart Luc Richard Mbah a Moute GM, Geoff Petrie and ownership Michael Malone Greivis Vazquez New GM, Pete D’Alessandro led by new ownership led by Vivek Ranadive The Sacramento Kings a much better team than they were at the end of the last season.  They added Greivis Vazquez to replace Tyreke Evans, which is an upgrade. They signed Vazquez to a two-year deal that has the point guard making a little over $2 million.  They also added Ben McLemore through the draft this season. The Kings drafted him with the seventh overall pick and are expecting big things from him. Under new ownership and coaching staff, the Kings are looking to make some splashes and show how good this team can be. They got a start on that this offseason, and really didn’t spend much money on doing so. Let’s take a look at the Kings salary cap up until the 2017-2018 season: Name 2013-14 2014-15 2015-16 2016-17 2017-18 Marcus Thornton $8,050,000 $8,575,000       John Salmons $7,583,000 $7,000,000       Carl Landry $6,500,000 $6,500,000 $6,500,000 $6,500,000   Charles Hayes $5,722,500 $5,958,750       Jason Thompson $5,643,750 $6,037,500 $6,431,250 $6,825,000   DeMarcus Cousins $4,916,974 $13,701,250 $14,728,844 $15,756,738 $16,784,032 Luc Mbah a Moute $4,588,384 $4,382,575       Patrick Patterson $3,105,301 $4,319,474       Travis Outlaw $3,000,000 $3,000,000       Ben McLemore $2,895,960 $3,026,280 $3,156,600 $4,008,882 $5,375,911 Jimmer Fredette $2,439,840 $3,110,796 $4,236,904     Greivis Vasquez $2,150,188 $3,203,780       Hamady Ndiaye $884,293 $1,148,163       Isaiah Thomas $884,293 $1,148,163       Aaron Brooks – X $674,194         Ray McCallum $524,616 $816,482 $947,276 $1,215,696   Trent Lockett $490,180 $816,482 $1,147,276     Brandon Heath – X $35,000         Guaranteed Total: $58,749,000 $52,997,837 $27,660,094 $24,906,738 $16,784,032 Inclusive Total: $60,088,473 $72,744,695 $37,148,150 $34,306,316 $22,159,943 The Kings, who only have invested $60 million into their players this season will have a $12 million cap hit on the following year with the DeMarcus Cousins extension.  The Kings still have some room to make some moves to make the team better, but what they have now is a great start. Predictions: I really liked what the Kings did this offseason. They finally resolved the relocation issue, and got back to focusing on basketball. New ownership brought in good, solid players, and have made a good impression thus far. However, I don’t see them making the playoffs this year. They certainly have got a great start, and I do believe something special is in the works in Sacramento. Nevertheless, Sacramento will be a fun team to watch this season with all the players they have brought in. (Salary table courtesy of www.hoopsworld.com) – Thanks for reading!
