When former Louisville star Terrence Williams’ 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics came to an end on Thursday, there was an unexpected delay on what the outcome would be. Fortunately for Williams the delay was for good reason. The Boston Celtics announced earlier today that not only would Williams be retained for the remainder of the season, but they he has signed a multiyear contract. The exact details of the contract haven’t been released, but according to the Boston Herald, Williams will be with the Celtics until at least the end of next season, given he makes the team.  The deal will include several triggers that guarantee the contract in stages. Celtics general manager Danny Ainge seems more than impressed with the former Louisville star. “He’s a better passer than anyone on our team,” Ainge told the Boston Globe. “He can play (point guard, shooting guard and small forward) and handle the ball. The reason I like Terrence is that we don’t have a true point guard. All of our ...

Bradley leads C’s Sunday workout

As John wrote earlier today, Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Jet & KG were all absent from today’s workout. So who kept things organized while the vets & head coach were away? As Chris Forsberg tells us, it was none other than “Zero Tolerance”: Rajon Rondo is off rehabbing an ACL injury and the practice floor featured nearly as many newcomers (4) as guys who started the season...

Who is the Celtics' best free agent signing of all time?

In the rich and glorious tradition of the Boston Celtics, where they have won the most NBA titles in league history, it may come as a surprise as to how subpar the franchise's ability has been to acquire a top free agent.  I had the discussion recently and it seems all the Celtics' top players of all time were acquired via a trade or the draft. In researching the candidates...

Rajon Rondo Ranked Sixth-Best Point Guard in NBA by Sports Illustrated

Around Boston, it is not uncommon to hear Rajon Rondo called a “top-five” point guard. In some cases, the Celtics’ floor general is even called the best point guard in the NBA, although that might be going a little too far for even Rondo’s biggest fans. Sports Illustrated weighed in on the topic, as we did months ago, with an updated list of the top 10 point guards in the...

After playing a while for a team in China and then signing a short 10 day contract with the Boston Celtics, Terrence Williams can finally breathe easy.  The Celtics have agreed to a multi-year deal with the former Louisville swingman. In the 4 games that Williams played for the Celtics he averaged 3.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists.  He was loved by the Celtics fan base...

Your Morning Dump… Where Doc’s system is no gimmick

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Celtics guard Jason Terry took a bit of umbrage when asked about Doc Rivers digging into his “bag of tricks” to pull out a zone defense against one of the best-shooting teams in the league during the second...

Your Morning Dump… Where Chris Wilcox is trying to prove himself

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here… highlighting the big storyline. Because there’s nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Wilcox reportedly was close to being shipped to the Washington Wizards as part of a deal that brought shooting guard Jordan Crawford to Boston. But Wilcox utilized a clause in the collective bargaining agreement...

5 Things Celtics must do to win tomorrow - 76ers 3/5

Tomorrow, the Celtics will head back on the road for a matchup with their division-rivals, the 76ers. So far this season, the Celtics are just 1-3 against Philly and 0-1 on the road. Despite those bad numbers, the Celtics have played well recently with two consecutive victories over the Jazz and Warriors. I'm not sure that the C's will be favored tomorrow night, but I do...

Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Relished the Three-Day Break But Understand It’s Back to the Grind (Videos)

Thanks to New England Sports Network’s Celtics writer Ben Watanabe, I chimed in with the Boston Celtics’ duo — Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett — to discuss their progression in the 2013 season as well as a preview of how this season and beyond may pan out. In the NBA, practice is the most important aspect for young guys, but for the older class players, like No. 34 and No....

Avery Bradley's getting props from everyone for his defense (including refs)

ESPN Boston "[The referee] said, ‘I had one shoulder done and I was out six months and I still feel bad.’ I said, ‘That’s why you’re an official,’" Rivers recalled with a laugh. "I did see three bad calls after that, I said, ‘My gosh, I was just joking.'" Both Rivers and Kevin Garnett admitted that Bradley is likely not 100 perent this season...

Saddled with a grueling road-heavy schedule, things haven't come easy for the Boston Celtics since the All-Star break. That's also been the case when they've had to travel to Philadelphia. The Celtics will be coming off a much-needed three-day layoff when they attempt to end their road struggles against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night. Boston (31-27) dropped...

Lakers Still in Playoff Chase, Celtics Could Be Primed for Run (Podcast)

With almost 60 games in the books for most NBA teams, two of the league’s most storied franchises find themselves fighting for their playoff lives. The Celtics have ripped off an 11-4 run since losing All-Star point guard Rajon Rondo, but they now enter a brutal stretch that includes road games in Indiana, Oklahoma City, Memphis and New York, as well as a game against the Heat...
