Golden State Warriors’ Harrison Barnes has missed two game and most of another with a left foot injury. He will miss tonight’s game with the Lakers and there is no timetable when he will return.
As reported by Scott-Howard Cooper at NBA.com, statements from the Warriors say that Barnes will rest when the calendar allows, which could mean he doesn’t play the rest of the preseason. But the team and Barnes are both confident that the injury is not major and sitting him is for precautionary reasons.
The injury only becomes a problem if it lingers into the regular season. A starter a year ago, Barnes would start at small forward if he starts this season no matter who is in the back court. If he does not start, veteran Andre Iguodala would start at small forward and Klay Thomspon at shooting guard.
Coach Mark Jackson admits that not having Barnes on the court affects the cohesiveness of the units out there.
