The Sacramento Kings are trying to put together a team and a coaching staff that fans will be happy and excited to support.

There have been some big changes happening in Sac Town lately, with the hiring of new head coach Mike Brown and new recruits Keegan Murray, Malik Monk, and Kevin Huerter.

But there was another new addition too.

The Kings just signed former Golden State Warriors player and development coach Leandro Barbosa as an assistant coach under Brown.

Barbosa won the NBA championship twice with Golden State and has been an important part of the team’s coaching staff since then.

First Brown, now Barbosa: does this mean the Kings are the new Warriors?

Moving Up North

Barbosa’s drive to his new team isn’t a very long one but it will feel worlds apart from what he’s known recently.

The Kings are not like the Warriors and it will take a lot of work before they are.

They are currently in the midst of the longest playoff drought in NBA history and Brown has said that he has big plans to change that.

Sure enough, some of the recent signings seem like the team is trying to push things in a new direction and players like Monk and Huerter are indeed very promising.

Additionally, Barbosa on the coaching staff means that the team will be led by an experienced champion who was part of the most celebrated team in the modern NBA.

Yet, how many times have fans gotten excited for a new-look Kings…only to be let down again?

Those who love the Kings are holding their breath right now: they will need to see this team in action before they get their hopes up.
