Knicks LEGIT? The Knicks have been on a complete roll this season. After winning 112-106 in MSG November 9, 2012 against Carmelo Anthony’s old team the Denver Nuggets. This improved their home record to 8-0 and their overall record to 15-5 which tops all teams in the Eastern Conference. Some people believe the Knicks would be a good team this season, but not a serious contender. As of right now, the standings in the East indicate otherwise. The Knicks look like the biggest threat to the defending champion Miami Heat. In the two meetings against the Heat, the Knicks have won by a total margin of 216-176. Each time that the Knicks have faced the Heat in these two meetings, they have looked like the better, more complete team. In the first meeting, the Knicks took the game 104-84 as Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with an amazing double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds. That game, he hands down, won the match-up between himself and LeBron James as LeBron had 23 points and 7 rebounds. Knicks role players were outstanding as they scored 19-36 from behind the arc. Tyson Chandler chipped in with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Raymond Felton also looked like the distributive point guard the Knicks have been missing as he had 9 assists and 3 steals. The Heat on the other hand as a team were held to 84 points. Dwayne Wade had 15 points, but added with a statement before and after the game by saying “the game shouldn’t have been played because of Sandy”. Some people took the game as a fluke, due to the hurricane, but as the Knicks faced the Heat again in Miami on December 6, 2012 it was the same results. As the Knicks approached this game, they were actually traveling from Charlotte, North Carolina as they just defeated the Bobcats 100-98 the night before. The Charlotte game was a down to the wire win for the Knicks as J.R. Smith  hit a game winning buzzer beater as time expired over the number 2 draft pick, rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. In the amazing win, the Knicks did indeed lose in a way as Carmelo Anthony injured his middle finger late in the 4th quarter with 2:10 left in the game. Carmelo had to receive 5 stitches and was unable for play in the game the next day against the Heat. The Knicks went into this game with a high level of energy and played with pride to prove that the Knicks were more than just a one man team. Guard Raymond Felton stepped up in the moment and ended with 27 points and 7 assists in the Knicks win. Forward Steve Novak contributed with 18 points and guard J.R. Smith added 13 points and 6 rebounds as they both did this coming off the bench. LeBron James had an outstanding game as he ended with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. The Knicks defense disrupted Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh as they combined for 6 of 25 shooting from the field. Not only beating the Heat, but shutting them down two games is not a fluke. The Knicks are looking like a great team this year as they have given the Miami Heat’s big three their worst home lost of their era. So, to say as of right now, the Knicks are flowing and looking like a great team so far. Waiting on players like all-star Amare Stoudemire, veteran Marcus Camby, and lock down defensive rookie Iman Shumpert to all return and get in tune with each other on the court. These will be key returns and will only build to the New York Knicks success this season.   Branden Hull @DeterminedLeo95
