The Houston Rockets took a huge gamble selecting Royce White at No. 16 in June’s NBA Draft. White was a beast his one year at Iowa State (13.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5 assists) but his draft stock plummeted thanks to a well-documented anxiety disorder. A major crux of his situation: White has a tremendous fear of flying. Unfortunately for White, the NBA travel schedule is arguably the most taxing in all of major sports.
During the pre-season, the Rockets worked out a deal with White to be able to drive to some games, but the agreement included one other caveat: he was required to visit Dr. Aaron Fink of Baylor University, a team-appointed specialist, in order to help overcome his anxiety. The Royce White saga in Houston has continued to develop and has taken an interesting turn. White suffers from serious anxiety, and specifically is extremely uncomfortable with flying; something that is pretty much necessary to do when traveling to different NBA cities. The Rockets had worked out a travel plan, but apparently that has fallen apart. On Monday the Rockets sent White...
Houston first-round draft pick Royce White is not with the team and says the Rockets have been ''inconsistent'' in their agreement to help him cope with his anxiety disorder.

I’m not a big fan of writing posts about whatever happens on twitter but every now and then something pops that I feel like addressing. Yesterday Houston Rockets rookie Royce White tweeted his discontent about his relationship with the Rockets. For those who don’t know, the promising rookie talent has generalized anxiety disorder, a condition that can make routine day-to-day...
