The Kings plan on taking advantage of DeMarcus Cousins’ passing abilities Longtime NBA assistant Michael Malone has finally got his shot to be the head man on an NBA team. Malone, who was one of the first major hires under the Vivek Ranadive regime, has already got to work with one of the Kings key players, DeMarcus Cousins. Although often considered a loose-cannon, DeMarcus Cousins is immensely talented and is viewed a franchise type player. So Malone’s job will be to turn this potential into fruition. And one the things Malone plans on implementing in the Kings’ offense, is Cousins ability to pass the ball. Malone views passing bigs as a huge asset in the NBA.  Malone is coming from Golden State which had two great passing big men in David Lee and Andrew Bogut, so he is familiar with using his bigs for orchestrating the offense. Via The Sacramento Bee: I’ve talked about DeMarcus a lot, but he’s so talented. He’s a big who can play away from the basket. But I’m going to ask him to play inside as well this year, be a guy we can run our offense through at times, because he can be such a good passer. The challenge for him is to cut down on those three turnovers a game. The luxury we had last year at Golden State, we had two bigs (David Lee and Andrew Bogut) who were not only good passers but willing passers. My hope is we get to that at some point. Whether Cousins can follow in the footsteps of Vlade Divac, Chris Webber and Brad Miller in the passing department remains to be seen, but it’s a positive step for the young center with loads of potential. Hopefully this is the year DeMarcus steps it up on the court and off. The post The Sacramento Kings plan to use DeMarcus Cousins in unique role appeared first on Pass The Pill - Kings of Hoops.
