The Toronto Raptors season has come to an end and a lot of question marks surround next years team. Kyle Lowry is a free agent, along with Patrick Patterson, Greivis Vasquez, and Nando De Colo. So the question needs to be asked, who stays and who goes? The Raptors can’t afford to keep all of them after the season Lowry had. As we can expect a pay increase in the range of 10-14 million a year for Lowry (just a guess). So here is my proposal. Re-sign Lowry, let Vasquez walk and use that money to re-sign Patterson and bring back De Colo as a backup. Here’s the truth Vasquez is good, very good. Loves the city and wants to play for us. But there is only so much money to go around and good front court help is a lot harder to find than guard help. I just feel that you won’t lose much by replacing Vasquez with De Colo. De Colo is a big guard  (6′ 5″) with tremendous court vision and a reliable 3 pt shot, a career 36% shooter. He’s also a San Antonio product, working in Popovich’s system before being traded here. He has tremendous court vision and makes passes only a select few in this league can make. He also works well out of the pick and roll and that’s essentially what Vasquez brought to the team. He worked the p&r with Amir Johnson and Jonas Valinciunas very well. I personally think it is time for Nando to get his fair shake and get some decent playing time (15+ a game). I like Vasquez and love that he likes Toronto, but money talks and the Raptors seem to have a player who can step in and step up immediately if need be, and they can re-sign him at a cheaper cost.
