Despite the NBA’s best efforts to put the kibosh on the troublesome scourge that flopping has become in its league, during the regular season as well as in the playoffs, practitioners of the dark art continue to come up with new and inventive ways to commit the heinous act. During Wednesday night’s Game 5 showdown between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena, two Thunder teammates came together to pull off a rarely seen feat: Synchronized Flopping. The Thunder players in question who perpetrated this amazing display of synchronicity were guards Derek Fisher and Thabo Sefolosha. Watch as they simultaneously flop as Rockets center Omer Asik rumbles his way down the lane: Beautifully executed and artfully performed. The synergy displayed by these two teammates should make them shoo-ins if synchronized flopping ever becomes an Olympic sport. And let’s be honest, the way in which it is practiced in the NBA by some of the best athletes in the world, there really is no reason why it shouldn’t be. Sadly for the Thunder, the efforts by Fisher and Sefolosha were insufficient in the cause at large. While their remarkable play did result in a foul on Asik, the Thunder nevertheless came up short in the game, losing to the Rockets by a score of 107-100, extending the series of a sixth game.
