The Minnesota Timberwolves have been devasted by injuries all season, and star forward Kevin Love is no exception. Love has missed all but 18 games this season, and it may stay that way, according to Jerry Zgoda of Star Tribune.Timberwolves forward Kevin Love knows the season is ticking away on him and he said before Friday’s game at Houston there’s a chance he won’t play again this season.“I’d say that has crossed my mind, but as far as making a decision, I haven’t made that decision yet,” he said. Despite this, Love remains optimistic about playing again this season.Love said he still hopes —and intends — to play the season’s final eight to 12 games.“We’ll see what a guy like Glen says and see what D.K. and Coach says and we’ll probably all make a decision,” Love said, referring to team owner Glen Taylor, president of basketball operations David Kahn and coach Rick Adelman. “At the end of the day, the decision is still mine and I’d still like to go out there and join the team.”The decision may be his, but the team likely won't put him back out there if they do not believe he is healthy. Sitting at 22-41, good for 12th in the Western Conference, they are pratically out of playoff contention. Having Love return prematurely has potential for more negative outcomes than positive. But there are reasons for Love to come back.“The hand is great, my body feels great. It’s going to be a big offseason. Part of coming back [yet this season], you want to give the fans something, but you also want to do something for the team and yourself. You kind of want to see what you have here when you have a full team, and we really haven’t had that yet.” After the various signings this off-season, the Timberwolves squad were expected by some to be a dangerous. Unfortunately, injuries have plagued them. If they can end the season on a strong, healthy note, it would attract free agents in the off-season to pair with Ricky Rubio and Love.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src="http://www.nbainjurynews.com//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs");

Wolves Sunday: Pek and Kirilenko return

MINNEAPOLIS Both Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko will be available for the Timberwolves Sunday night against New Orleans, and Rick Adelman gave every indication that both would start. "My tendency is to start them," Adelman said. "They're two of our best players. . . . I want to see how they perform, and I think that's the best way to do that is to start...

Wolves show glimmer of hope in final seconds

MINNEAPOLIS That was certainly not one for the ages. That was 47:42 worth of mediocre basketball, all but sliver of a game in which the Timberwolves looked absent on defense and just fine on offense, when it seemed that re-integrating Nikola Pekovic and Andrei Kirilenko into the lineup after nearly three weeks out was going to be a days-long project. That was 47:42 worth of rust...

Kevin Love Says he may not Return This Season

The Minnesota Timberwolves hopes of competing this season were sabotaged from the onset by injuries to their two best players Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love. They’ve rarely had a fully healthy team on the floor to see where they stand and it seems like they won’t be getting that opportunity according to Love. In a story via Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, the 2-time All-Star, who...

Five teams to love along with the Wolves

MINNEAPOLIS A harsh reality has descended upon Minnesota: The Timberwolves, unless they somehow win every single one of their last 20 games, are not making the playoffs. (And even if they did somehow pull off that Heat-esque feat, which again, I emphasize, they will not, they still might be in jeopardy of falling short.) Maybe if the eight contending teams in the West were decimated...

Timberwolves 97, Hornets 95

Derrick Williams scored a career-high 28 points and Ricky Rubio had 16 with six assists as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the New Orleans Hornets 97-95 on Sunday night. The Wolves got a lift in the final seconds from two players who hadn't seen appeared in a game in more than two weeks when Nikola Pekovic hit two free throws to pull Minnesota ahead for good, and Andrei Kirilenko...

Hornets-Timberwolves Preview

The Minnesota Timberwolves haven't earned too many wins over the past couple of months but they recorded a lopsided victory during a visit from the New Orleans Hornets in February. The Timberwolves will try to prevail again in the rematch between the two struggling clubs Sunday night at the Target Center. Minnesota (22-41) is 6-26 since Jan. 9 but hardly looked like a lowly...
