Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards’ unworried stance on Nuggets tying series with Game 4 victory

Despite the loss, Anthony Edwards does have good reason to smile. Not only is Game 5 just 36 hours away, but the Wolves’ budding superstar has clearly ascended to another level during Minnesota’s postseason run. In Game 4, Anthony Edwards poured in 44 points, topping a previous career-best of 43 points which he set in Game 1 of the Timberwolves’ 2nd Round series against the Denver Nuggets. Rest of the Timberwolves starters scored 50 points combined on 17-for-43 shooting on Sunday night.

A Best of Three Series 

As Anthony Edwards said in his postgame press conference on Sunday night, both the Timberwolves and the Nuggets have won two game straight in the series, and it’s now a race to see which team can win two of the next three. Game 5 will be played on Tuesday night in Denver, and Game 6 will take place on Thursday night back in Minnesota. If there is a Game 7 to be played, it will take place at Ball Arena in Denver on Sunday. And given how unpredictable the series has been thus far — every game won by the road team — there’s no telling what might unfold over the course of the next week.

The Nuggets have yet to find a good answer for Anthony Edwards. For the series, Ant is averaging 33.3 points per game on 61-44-81 shooting splits. The entire 2024 postseason has been nothing more than a showcase for the Timberwolves’ 22-year-old superstar. Meanwhile, for Denver, Jamal Murray has shrugged off two poor performances in the first two games of the series and bounced back in a big way in Game’s 3 and 4, scoring 43 points on 19-for-38 shooting in two Nuggets wins.

The league MVP, Nikola Jokic, has not been as efficient as he was during the regular season, but is still averaging 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists for the series, including a series-best 35 points on 16-for-25 shooting in Game 4.
