On July 27,  Mozgov and the Nuggets agreed  to a three-year $14 million contract. Going into his fourth season in the NBA, Mozgov has a lot of quesitons he needs to answer for new coach Brian Shaw. Sunday, Mozgov looked hungry defensively in his first game of the 2013-14 preseason against the Los Angeles Lakers.  The Russian recorded two points, three rebounds and five blocks in 15.1 minutes. In the Nuggets second game against the Lakers on Tuesday, Mozgov struggled.  He finished the game with three points, two rebounds an assist and one block in the same amount of minutes as game one.  Mozgov looked confused offensively.  Possibly the worst offensive play of the night was when Mozgov attempted a jumpshot just inside the 3-point line. Which Mozgov will the Nuggets get once regular season starts? Last season, Mozgov saw his minutes decline from 15.6 in 2011-12 to 8.9 min in 2012-13.  His numbers suffered because of it. The big man only averaged 2.6 points and rebounds in 2012-13 opposed to 5.4 pts and 4.1 rebounds from the season before. If Mozgov doesn’t play to his potential, Darrell Arthur could get more minutes at the five off the bench. Arthur has tremendous defensive abilities.  The biggest asset that Arthur brings to the team is his presence in the post. Last year, Arthur played behind starting All-Star Zach Randolph for the Memphis Grizzlies.  The fifth-year-forward from Kansas University can play at both the four and five positions.  During the 2012-13 season, Arthur averaged 6.1 points and 3.0 rebounds in just 11.89 minutes. On the Grizzlies, Arthur was a part of a team that finished the season as the No. 1 defensive team in the NBA. During the offseason, the Nuggets had a opprtunity to send Mozgov overseas to develop. On July 7, Mozgov received a four-year contract offer from Russian team Lokomotiv Kuban. Had Mozgov returned to his hometown, the Nuggets would have still retained his rights if he wanted to return to the NBA. Mozgov needs to start putting up better numbers if he wants to play this season.  He needs to utilize the triangle offense to create opprtunties for perimeter players.  Add Jordan Morey to your network on Google+ or follow him on twitter@JordanAMorey The post Timofey Mozgov: Denver Nuggets 2013-14 Profile appeared first on Hardwood Gold Rush.
