Top-3 All-Time Celtics - SF

For the next couple of weeks, I'll be running down my personal top-3 Celtics at each position, and then creating my All-Time Celtics 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams. The Small Forwards:1. Larry Bird - Maybe one day we'll put Paul Pierce in the #1 spot (if he wins a couple of more titles, there will be serious debate), but right now, there's no question that Larry Bird is the best SF in Celtics history. Labeled as guy a guy who couldn't run or jump when he came out of Indiana State, Bird is now labeled as one of the most clutch players in NBA history. He won 3 NBA MVP awards (84-86), 2 Finals MVP awards ('84 and '86), 3 NBA championships ('81, '84, '86), and the Rookie of the Year award in 1980. He was a 12-time All Star and 9-time All NBA 1st Team member. His career was cut short due to back problems, retiring after the '91-'92 season. He is in the top-10 of all-time Celtics in all major categories, and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998. His #33 was retired in 1993.2. Paul Pierce - Pierce has largely been an underrated player in the NBA, but there's no denying his place in Celtics' history. Actually, we don't even know what that place is yet. A couple more rings, and there could be seirous debate as whether he, and not Larry Joe, should top this list (answer: "no"). Pierce will undoubtedly have his number retired by the Green, and will go down as one of the greatest Celtics ever. He currently sits in 3rd place in team history in scoring, behind only Bird and Havlicek, and is a top-10 in most other categories. 3. Tom "Satch" Sanders - One of the first defensive stars in Celtics history, Sanders played 13 seasons with the Celtics, and won 8 championships. Only Sam Jones and Bill Russell have won more rings in NBA hostory than Sanders. Sanders top-10 in celtics history in Games Played (916) and Rebounds (5798). He was a recipient of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame John Bunn Award in September of 2007. His number 16 has been retired by the Celtics.
