NBA Injury News:
On Tuesday afternoon, Utah Jazz rookie point guard Trey Burke has successful surgery on his right index finger. His finger was put in a cast/splint and he’ll be re-evaluated in three weeks.
According to Steve Luhm of The Salt Lake Tribune, the Jazz have talked to veteran point guard Jamaal Tinsley about returning to the team to fill the void with the loss of Burke.
“There has been mutual interest,” Raymond Brothers, Tinsley’s agent, told The Tribune. Said coach Tyrone Corbin: “He has some interest, we have some interest. … He’s a guy who knows our system.”
With Burke out, the door could be open for Scott Machado to make an impact. Machado spent most of last season playing in the NBA Development League, but might not only make the Jazz roster, but have a significant role.
“I came in fighting for life,” Machado said. “… It’s so bad something like that had to happen [to Burke]. But when the opportunity shows, I have to take advantage of it.”
Trey Burke was a 2-year starter at Michigan. He averaged 14.8 points and 4.6 assists as a freshman and 18.6 points and 6.7 assists as a sophomore. He was drafted with the 9th selection overall in the 2013 NBA draft.

Early reports said Jazz rookie, Trey Burke, would miss approximately 8-12 weeks after surgery to repair his fractured finger, but those reports are wrong, according to Trey Burke himself.
The rookie point guard sent out a Tweet Tuesday to clear up any confusion, saying that the 8-12 week timetable is “very unreasonable” and 4-6 weeks is more likely. Good news for Jazz fans.
With another NBA season just around the corner, rookies everywhere are looking over their shoulders in anticipation of potential acts of hazing from the veterans. Two young Utah Jazz players were the latest victims of team hazing, and they shared photos of the results on Instagram. By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff..
It is now time for the Utah Jazz to trade for local hero, Jimmer Fredette. The former BYU star has had a somewhat disappointing first two years in the NBA, as a member of the Sacramento Kings; even though most would say extremely disappointing. The difference between somewhat and...

Former Michigan star Trey Burke was expected to be heavily relied upon as the Utah Jazz’s starting point guard. The rookie guard had started all three of the Jazz’s preseason games when Burke broke his right index finger in a 106-74 loss to the Clippers. With Utah now looking for other options, they are setting their sights on Chicago back-up point guard Marquis Teague.

Former Utah Jazz forward Karl Malone was never been one to shy away from contact or dish it out during his playing days in the NBA.
For those old enough to remember, this incident comes to mind with San Antonio Spurs own David Robinson (see video).
During his playing days, Malone was a chiseled specimen who was not afraid to throw his weight and his elbows around. He...
The NBA free agency period is dying down, so it time to look back at each team who they signed. Also many trades went down, which I will also recap below.

Utah Jazz point guard Trey Burke was my Rookie of the Year favorite for the upcoming season. That broken finger suffered in a preseason game probably changes all that now after surgery was needed. Enes Kanter looked unstoppable to start.
The Utah Jazz center hit jump shots finished on the fast break and backed down defenders on the block as he hit his first eight shots Wednesday night.
Gordon Hayward too was putting on a show. The swingman had the ball in his hands often in the preseason tilt with the Portland Trail Blazers slashing to the hoop creating contact and earning...
Some NBA veterans will just refuse to go away.
Even if you think your favorite veteran point guards from NBA Live 2004 would be long gone, here they are ready to play once again. They are just sitting there waiting for an injury to open up a vacant roster spot and latch on for some consistent playing. Or veteran leadership. Or whatever else.
This is the chance Jamaal Tinsley...
