When the New Orleans Pelicans signed Tyreke Evans to a four-year deal worth $44 million, they were not planning for him to go down in the first preseason game of the year. The wing man that is expected to fill out a lineup full of All Stars and rising greats, sprained his ankle but won’t miss a lot of time according to John Reid of the Times-Picayune.
Pelicans GM Dell Demps said on tonight's radio broadcast that Tyreke Evans could be out one to two weeks, but should be ready by opener.

In August, Evans told the Times-Picayune that he was already bonding with his teammates.
“Its been great that all of us have been willing to sacrifice and work together as a team,’’ Evans said. “Anytime guys want to come out and do that, that’s a good start. We’re looking to make a push to the playoffs and this is where it’s got to start in the offseason.’’
If the chemistry is right, the Pelicans could make a playoff run.
But first he needs to get and remain healthy.
Evans is due to come off the bench once he is ready to go.
