Another small slate in the National Basketball Association, but one that still had a couple of former UNC Basketball players in it, which means that it’s time for the daily recap called Heels in the Pro’s NBA Style for 11/06. (Please Note: The reason for the post being late was due to things I needed to do in the morning that could not be avoided). With three games on last night, a pair of them having a former Tar Heels, let’s get going with this small recap… The first one has the Toronto Raptors [Eastern Conference ~ Atlantic Division] (1-2 overall ~ 0-1 on the road) going south of the border to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder [Western Conference ~ Northwest Division] (1-2 overall ~ 1-1 at home). This is the first of two match ups between the franchises with Oklahoma City being a 8.5 points favorite. The game, which lasted 2 and a quarter hours, was played in front of a packed house of 18,203 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. For the team from Canada it’s Ed Davis (@eddavis32 on twitter), who comes off the bench for the Raptors and plays a total of 21 minutes. In that time frame the power forward scores six points (2 for 4 ~ 0 for 0 ~ 2 for 3) to go with nine rebounds, a steal and a 0 in points differential. As far as the game went, it was OKC taking this one by 20 points, defeating Toronto by the final of 108 to 88. With the loss the Raptors drop to 1 and 3 on the season, dead last in the Atlantic Div, 2.5 games behind the division leader. The team will try to get back on track as they host the 76′ers (1-2) at home on 11/10. #Raptors fall to the Thunder 108-88 in a rout in OKC. Valanciunas w/ 18 pts, 6 rebs. Raptors Post Up streams here: on.nba.com/QmqLgr #RTZ — Toronto Raptors (@Raptors) November 7, 2012     The other game on the night is the one with two winless squads in the NBA as the Denver Nuggets [Western Conference ~ Northwest Division] (0-3 overall ~ 0-0 at home) host the Detroit Pistons [Eastern Conference ~ Central Division] (0-3 overall ~ 0-2 on the road). This is going to be the first of two match ups between team in different conferences, with Denver being a favorite by 10.5 points. For the home squad it’s speedster Ty Lawson (@TyLawson3 on twitter), who starts and plays a game high 39 minutes. In that time the point guard gets close to a double double with 15 points (3 for 8 ~ 1 for 4 ~ 8 for 10) to go with team high nine assists, four rebounds, four steals and a turnover while having a game high points differential of +21. In the end it was Denver winning this one by a dozen, defeating Detroit by the final of 109 to 97. With the win the Nuggets are now 1 and 3 on the young season, 1.5 games back of the NW Div leader. The team will be in action once again on 11/07 as the travel to take on the Rockets. Final from @pepsi_center: #Nuggets 109, Pistons 97. @mindofai9 has 17 pts, 10 rebounds as Denver gets first win of season — Denver Nuggets (@denvernuggets) November 7, 2012     That is it, this one can be labeled short and and semi-sweet, as there were only two games with one being won and being loss by the former UNC Basketball players that were in action. However with thirteen games on the schedule tonight make sure to come back tomorrow for a very, very long edition of Heels in the Pro’s NBA Style. And as usual for more information about North Carolina basketball and/or football, teams and players, present and past, make sure to check back often on isportsweb!
