The Utah Jazz announced today that Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert has officially declared Leap Day, February 29, 2012, as Jeremy Evans Day. The declaration comes four days after Evans, a second-year Jazzman, was voted winner of the 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk contest held at Amway Center in Orlando during NBA All-Star Weekend.
Governor Herbert presented Evans with the official declaration prior to tonight's Jazz home game against the Houston Rockets. An excerpt from the declaration states, "As residents of the State of Utah, we are tremendously proud of Jeremy for becoming the first Utah Jazz player to win the NBA slam dunk contest and literally personify our state slogan, 'Life Elevated.'"
