(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By LYNN DeBRUIN AP Sports Writer The lockout-shortened NBA season has left Tyrone Corbin with precious little time to prepare a young, fairly inexperienced Utah Jazz team.
But after being thrown into the fire last season following Jerry Sloan's abrupt retirement, then waiting impatiently for a fresh start, the 48-year-old Corbin is ready to hit the ground running.
Those who know the affable, hard-working ex-player say he's ready, even if the deck is stacked against him.
It helps that Corbin isn't about ego, or trying to please everyone. He's also learned a lot playing for nine teams in 16 years, and from a Hall of Famer.
His mother also instilled a simple rule: no excuses.
