College basketball season is finally underway, and we have already had a fair share of excitement. As preseason play comes to an end, many will begin to speculate about which players will become the nation’s best. Last year, everyone knew Jared Sullinger, Anthony Davis, and Austin Rivers would lead their teams to numerous wins, but it is the small time superstars that make the best stories. Damian Lillard and Doug McDermott put Weber State and Creighton in the national spotlight with their performance on the court. Not so long ago, America’s favorite college star was Jimmer Freddette, who single-handedly made BYU one of the best teams in college basketball. It seemed like every time Jimmer pulled up from 3, the ball was going in, which it did most of the time. In this week’s Video of the Week, we’ll take a look at one of Jimmer’s threes against TCU, who appeared to playing solid defense on the play. Currently, Freddette is only averaging 6.3 ppg in just 9.4 mpg, but if he can find his old stroke, look for him to be the next breed of Ray Allen. NOTE: There was still 20 seconds on the shot clock when Jimmer pulled up, implying that his range is virtually endless. Click here to view the video on YouTube. -Langer
