During the broadcast of yesterday’s NBA Eastern Conference Semifinal game between the Pacers and the Heat, Mike Tirico mentioned that Pacers coach Frank Vogel, as a youth, had done a Stupid Human Trick on Late Night With David Letterman.
Vogel, who finished third in this year’s Coach of the Year vote, spun a basketball on the end of a toothbrush then brushed his teeth with that same toothbrush.
Here he is back in 1986:

Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel has been fined $15,000 by the NBA for his comments on how the officials should call the Pacers' upcoming series with the Miami Heat.

“They are the biggest flopping team in the NBA,” Vogel said. “It’ll be very interesting to see how the referees officiate the series and how much flopping...
Frank Vogel will kill me already for calling this an upset despite his Indiana Pacers being down 1-0 in their playoff series with the Miami Heat.
Undoubtedly, though to many NBA observers, a Pacers victory in their second-round matchup with the Heat would be nothing less than an upset of monumental proportions. Miami after all is the world beaters with the supposed cake-walk to the...
LBJ and Danny Granger mixed it up a bit in the middle of the 4th quarter in tonight's game 2 match up between the Heat and the Pacers. A scuffle ensued and some words were had, but no major altercation took place - both players were given technicals. Lebron seemed to take offense when his receeding hairline was exposed in public.
I still have no idea how the Indiana Pacers just evened their second round series with the Miami Heat at one game apiece with a 78-75 victory.Seriously, it was one of the ugliest games I had ever seen, one I had expected the Pacers to lose by 30 at one stage. In the first half, the Pacers dribbled down the shot clock on just about every possession, missed almost all their...
Frank Vogel has been fined $15,000 for accusing the Heat of flopping for foul calls.
Last week, Indiana basketball legend Mark Titus wrote a compelling piece wondering why the Pacers weren’t more popular in a state that loves basketball so much.
In it, Titus lists several statistics which seem to indicate that the Pacers aren’t loved and followed much at all by people in Indiana.
While I feel that some of those statistics are misleading (it’s easy to have one...
No Big Three meant one big problem for Miami, and one very big win for Indiana.
David West scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, George Hill added 15 and the Indiana Pacers took home-court advantage away from Miami by beating the Heat 78-75 in Game 2 of the teams' Eastern Conference semifinal series Tuesday night.
LeBron James scored 28 points for Miami and Dwyane Wade...
David West notched a double-double and would score the game winning bucket while the Indiana Pacers held the Miami Heat scoreless for the last 2:51 of the game, as Indiana held off the Heat in game two of their Eastern Conference semi-final series, winning the game 78-75 and knotting up the series at one game apiece. The victory for the Pacers took away Miami’s home-court advantage...
Thursday of last week, prior to game 1 of the Heat vs Pacers series, Pacer coach Frank Vogel said of the Heat, that they were “…the biggest flopping team in the league”. He elaborated further by saying, “Oftentimes, they’re falling down even before contact is even being made.” While those statements may be founded in a [...]
MIAMI (AP) -- David West scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, George Hill added 15 and the Indiana Pacers took home-court advantage away from Miami by beating the Heat 78-75 in Game 2 of the teams' Eastern Conference semifinal series Tuesday night.
LeBron James scored 28 points for Miami and Dwyane Wade finished with 24, but both missed big chances for the Heat late. James...
Before the start of the Pacers-Heat series, I said the Pacers would need a key injury and a bit of luck in order to stand a chance of upsetting the Heat. Well, now they've gotten their key injury, with Chris Bosh sidelined indefinitely with an abdominal injury -- one that will probably rule him out of the remainder of the series.Of course, losing Bosh isn't the same as say...
MIAMI -- This does not sound like a winning formula. Miss 24 of 29 shots in one stretch, on the road. Watch an 11-point, second-half lead turn into a deficit. Have your entire team get outscored by two players in the fourth quarter. Somehow, it worked for the Indiana Pacers. And with one part of the Big Three gone, the Miami Heat might have a very big problem. Read more about this game, here.
