The biggest question coming into the 2012 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat was if the Heat were going to be able to find a way to guard the Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. The Heat found a way to stop Harden, but Durant and Westbrook showed that they have certain skills that the Heat can flat out not guard. Durant’s length turned out to be the biggest problem for the Heat. They tried using Shane Battier, but Durant was way too quick and athletic for Battier. They also used Lebron James at times, but he was often dedicated to shutting down one of the Thunder’s other players. Durant finished with a game high 36 points, 17 of which were in the 4th quarter. If the Heat want a chance of winning the series, they’ll have to devote James to guarding Durant and make the Thunder win with another one of their stars. The Heat’s other big problem last night was the quickness of Westbrook. There is no one on the Heat’s roster who can match Westbro...

Russell Westbrook Dazzling, Maddening As Usual, But Mostly Just Dazzling in Game 1 Against Heat

The great thing about Russell Westbrook is that in every game, he captures all the reasons so many basketball fans hate him as well as all the reasons so many fans love him. On the massive stage of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, Westbrook was no different Tuesday. He hit only one of his five shots in the first quarter and seemed, as usual, about as in control as a speed skater in his...

Durant Takes Over In Fourth Quarter As Thunder Top Heat 105-94

The Oklahoma City Thunder did not look sharp coming out of the gate in game one of the NBA Finals, as they hosted the Miami Heat Tuesday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena, as they seemed ill at ease during the first quarter of the club’s first trip to the Association’s Championship round, allowing their visitors to jump on top by seven points at the conclusion of the quarter...

Game 1 of The NBA Finals brings back deja vu

Well, game one of the 2012 NBA Finals is in the book and the story brings back lots of memories. Unstoppable tonight. Look familiar? (Reuters) Of playoffs past. Of LeBron James. But I'm not talking about the false narrative (that I've never floated here) that he chokes in crunch time or can't ever win a championship. (Although I'll most likely go to my grave rooting...

Russell Westbrook wears another ugly shirt at Game 1 of NBA Finals (Photo)

Another Thunder game. Another time Russell Westbrook makes us ask “WTF is he wearing?” This time, for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday, Westbrook showed up wearing a white collared shirt printed with what appear to be skiers. If you blur your vision it kind of looks like something John Travolta wears in “Saturday Night Fever.” And he also brought back the red glasses...

Game 1 off the NBA finals went to the Thunder. But what about the OTHER battle, the fashion one? Russell Westbrook wore a shirt from the 2012 Prada spring collection and of course, personality frames. KD opted for a slim cut suit in black. King James opted for a color mash featuring a berry shirt, [...]

Starting 5: OKC comes back vs. Miami's fizzle

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1:  OKC's big comeback You wouldn't see a re-incarnted Sun Tzu penning basketball strategies that include being down 13 at any point in an NBA Finals game, but the Thunder never quite seemed uncomfortable with their deficits in Game 1.  Like a battering ram taking a few...

Oklahoma City set to become regular NBA June stop

Oklahoma City was once just a temporary stop for the NBA. Needing a home after being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Hornets came to play in a city that was desperate for a major sports franchise of its own. The Hornets eventually went back home, but now Kevin Durant and the rest of the young Thunder might make Oklahoma City an annual summer destination. With a...

NBA Finals Preview – Thunder vs. Heat

It’s the finals every body wanted. LeBron James versus anti-LeBron James, aka Kevin Durant. The makeup of both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat could not be any more different. Miami built their big-3 through free agency in the summer of 2010. James and Chris Bosh upped with Dwyane Wade, which of course prompted this.  Meanwhile, just days after...

Thunder Now Believe They Can Win NBA Finals

Those who witnessed game one of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, watched as a team evolved and matured before their eyes, from a squad that played tentatively during the first 12 minutes of action, to a team that dominated both ends of the court during the final period, leading to their winning the contest. Perhaps, the Oklahoma City Thunder were a bit overcome with the size of...
