Tweet   The Orlando Magic improved to 3-5 tonight with a 110-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons. While Magic forward Glen Davis had a solid game with 17 points (8-14 FG) and 13 rebounds he was also on the wrong end of a couple of highlights by Jason Maxiell and Tayshaun Prince. The important part [...]

POTD 11/16/12: Jason Maxiell on Big Baby

To see Jason Maxiell coming at you — all six feet, seven inches, and 260 pounds of him — I imagine it would be something like looking down the barrel of a fired cannon.  You know an extremely large and powerful projectile is headed your way, and that it’s coming so fast that you’ll be very lucky to avoid it, and that there’s a grave possibility that you’re about to face...

Pistons dunk over all the Magic

Last night in was a dunk fest in Detroit between the Pistons and Orlando Magic. Both Jason Maxiell and Tayshaun Prince had monster dunks on Glen Daivs. Both dunks were monster dunks that you could put on a poster. In the end though, the Magic won the game and Davis finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Follow me on twitter @ScottBasketball!/ScottBasketballAlso...

J.J. Redick leads Magic past Pistons

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- J.J. Redick scored 23 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 42.8 seconds left, and the Orlando Magic rallied to beat the Detroit Pistons 110-106 on Friday night. Arron Afflalo scored 19 and Jameer Nelson added 13 points and 10 assists for Orlando, which had each of its starters score in double figures. Glen Davis had 17 points and 13 rebounds, and...

An offense in transition

The Magic offense was sputtering in the first half against the Suns on opening weekend. The Magic were shooting 36 percent from the floor and trailing by 10 points. More importantly, the Magic had 11 assists and just six fast break points. Those are numbers Orlando needed to change if the team wanted to win this game. They were numbers that did change in the second half. Orlando...

Stuckey Offers To Come Off Bench; Singler To Start

Rodney Stuckey will come off the bench against the Orlando Magic on Friday.

Rasheed Wallace calls Arron Afflalo 'AFLAC' (Video)

New York Knicks center Rasheed Wallace referred to Orlando Magic guard Aaron Afflalo as "AFLAC" during Tuesday night's NBA game at the Amway Center. It happened in the second quarter with the score tied at 43-43. As Afflalo's first free throw bounced off the rim, Wallace could be heard shouting "Yeah, AFLAC!" We're pretty sure Afflalo has...

Magic 110, Pistons 106

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- J.J. Redick scored 23 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 42.8 seconds remaining, as the Orlando Magic snapped a five-game losing streak with a 110-106 victory over the Detroit Pistons at The Palace Friday. Arron Afflalo had 19 points and Glen Davis supplied 17 points and 13 rebounds for the Magic, who erased a 13-point, second-half deficit. Orlando...

Celtics Live Blog: Kevin Garnett, C’s Hit Up Motown to Play Struggling Pistons

8 a.m. ET: These Pistons are redefining the nickname, “Bad Boys.” Through 10 games, the Pistons are really bad. They lost their first eight games and followed up their first win of the season with a loss to the rebuilding Magic. Greg Monroe is still an improving young big man, but once-key players like Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum have continued their fall toward irrelevance...

Bang Bang Maxiell’s Silver Hammer

Greg Monroe had an outstanding rebounding performance, snagging 18 (5 offensive) boards to accompany his 19 points, 6 assists and 1 block. You can forgive the 6 turnovers, because he’s had double digit rebounds in five of his past six games. The Pistons are just happy to win a game. With Andre Drummond seeing floor time and Monroe being a beast, there were concerns that Jason Maxiell...

Pistons 103, Celtics 83

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Greg Monroe had 20 points and 13 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons won for just the second time this season, 103-83, over the Boston Celtics at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Sunday. Jason Maxiell contributed 15 points for the Pistons, who had six double-figure scorers, while Kyle Singler and Rodney Stuckey had 14 apiece. Rajon Rondo had 12 points and 10...
