Apparently Ben Wallace was one player who had a valid excuse for missing Friday’s shootaround. Sadly, his brother passed away and he will be away from the team to deal with the family matter, according to the team, per Mlive’s Chris Iott.

Initial reports of the Pistons Players Protest indicated that Wallace missed practice due to a family matter, but he was lumped in with the other players who had more dubious excuses and were kept out of the game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Perhaps this is a good time to take a step back from the circus surrounding the team and realize that — hey, it’s just basketball.

I, and I’m sure I can speak for the rest of the Pistons community, send my condolences to the Wallace family and hope to see him again in a Pistons uniform in due time.
